There. Gotta say, I really liked this ep. It started out, well, not very
exciting. Jokes were pretty predictable. I knew exactly when to laugh, but
didn't feel the need. Like that stuff about Cordy's new shoes... and some
more I can't remember top of my head. And that monster Angel whas fighting,
pretty lame.
But then, after the sensitivity stuff, things got much better. Like Kate
kracking up with her father, and then all the other boys... Really liked
Kate's appearance (as in appearing in the show, duh!) this time. She's a lot
easier to enjoy when she's not playing Tough Cop (tm) all the time. But
then, she is a Tough Cop (tm), the way she flying kicked that snitch's
ass....
When she was psycho-analysing the Doyle-Cordy thing, that was great stuff.
Showed some lingering possibilities between the two. Cordy's just in the
denial phase yet, she'll get there.
And then when Angel got all Mr. Sensitive. Really liked that *I feel a hug
coming* and other stuff. Actually some great acting by Boreanaz.
And a revealing moment, about saying his parents tasted like chicken. But to
actually use that as a come-back?.... Pretty insensitive Mr.!
Wolfram & Hart, definately an arc there. I feel a big confrontation at the
end of this season coming on. Haven't been spoiled about that yet.
So there it is, all in all, bottom line, a really nice ep. I'm starting to
like Angel. As a show on it's own that is. I didn't even refer to BtvS
*once*. Hey, that's progress!
Come to speak of it, Buffy on BBC next Thursday and Friday, and on Net5
next Sunday. YES! Roll on more BUFFY!!!

Sorry, attempted to tape it, but VCR hadn't been changed to summer time so
I got 'Charmed' instead. DOH!!!

So... any comments on *that* ep?
I thought I was gonna have this happen to me (was off a couple of
days...), but magically, the VCR changed the time all on its own (I
think it gets off of teletext or sumthin..) Got charmed as well, haven't
watched it yet tho..
Mattia
Yes, finally a little more. We already had something of the sort in City
of when the lawyer calls up the office to arrange a meeting about the
new guy in town (Angel) after he throws russel out a window...Gratifying
to see them back in action, in a more active role this time..
> so, untill Angel shows Kate why he is so mysterious,
Hehe...
Mattia
Well, exams was part of it ;-)
Pretty silly, and very lame, but I liked it. Another case of so over the
top it works.

That was pretty cool, IMHO

Well, there's next weeks ep (the spoilery preview thing hints away
merrily ;-)

Personally, I liked the bit at the docks with Angel kitted out in that
utterly ridiculous outfit. Practically didn't recognize him...I mea,
look at the one other wardrobe change line we've had about him (Can't
remeber which ep, but Cordy said something about him always wearing
black, why not try white. Next scene he turns up with the exact same
shirt he was wearing before (style, cut etc.) only this time, its white
;-)
> And a revealing moment, about saying his parents tasted like chicken. But to
> actually use that as a come-back?.... Pretty insensitive Mr.!
I thought that was pretty damn harsh, considering he's all guilt trippy
about what he was done. Guess he has a dark sense of humor..

Yes, please!

Wow...could be withdrawl symptoms though (no ep on BBC, none on Dutch
TV...)
On that note, over the course of the past 3 weeks, I've seen buffy in 3
languages. Watched Grad day pt2 in french on saturday: Painful to watch,
most voices are pretty good, but the translation destroys all but a few
of the jokes..More cringing than laughing...Watched it in German (Lie to
Me) before that, Voices are TERRIBLE, translation marginally better, but
not by much.
> Come to speak of it, Buffy on BBC next Thursday and Friday, and on Net5
> next Sunday. YES! Roll on more BUFFY!!!
YES YES YES!!!!!! Especially the NEW EPS on NET5 (Seen Anne about 4
times now, in various languages...:-)
Mattia
And you know there IS going to be more of Wolfram and Hart, at least I know
that there is more, till which ep have you seen Angel, The Ring?
Why do you torture yourself like that? Withdrawal symptoms are pretty harsh
on you, aren't they?
Bye, Patrick

Und ich esse dieser Banane. Lunchzeit sei verdammt!
Willow - Doppelgangland
Hehe...I don't really know why...the french because my Family lives
there, they all watch it, I watch with them (I cringe about how terrible
the translation is, they tell me to shut up so they can follow the show,
which I have seen several times, but they haven't..) The German one was
in Austria, watching Pro 7. We were in a hotel on Sunday afternoon
(IIRC) and we had to kill time...watched some charmed (really old ep..)
and Lie to Me in German... fun huh?
And on withdrawl symptoms, yes, they can be quite harsh. I'm getting all
excited about seeing a Buffy episode I have not seen yet (the only other
ep I have never seen is Inca Mummy Girl, I always seem to miss
it...Guess I'll have to buy the S1 boxed set soon ;-)

Well, to be honest I'd never seen this show before, but I took this
opportunity to give it a shot. It was certainly watchable [read: I think
Phoebe is pretty cute ;-)], though somehow I had the distinct feeling it
was a rip-off of Buffy. Perhaps that's stating the obvious. The way it has
all this magic and supernatural stuff, which they all take completely
seriously, and yet there's a healthy dose of humor in the show. That's
what I like about Buffy. Charmed's whole format seems to me to be a copy
of BtVS in many ways. Am I right? Don't know if that's necessarily a bad
thing. Hell, I could probably become hooked to this if I let myself. I
might just try taping both on Monday. At least that guarantees I won't
miss the end of Angel...
Well, I wouldn't call it a rip off of Buffy as such. Both shows deal
with the supernatural, but then again, that's become very popular again
(IMO in no small part thanks to BtVS) There's less comedy, takes stuff
pretty seriously, etc. etc. Similar, but I wouldn't say a rip off. I
like the show, but it ain't all that..
Mattia
Sounds like fun. Although I need a job, and money, before I can do
that..:-(
> *So when are you planning this? S2 box set is out too you know. I sorta

hehe..as said, it might take a while. Hoping before summer, but who
knows..?
Back on topic again for a second (the one in the header, I mean)
Did people notice CC tatoo showed in this ep? (in the small of her back,
in the scene where they climb in thru the window at the police
station...) Can't remeber that ever showing before, saw it a photo shoot
set once though, FHM I believe...
Mattia
Ok, I'll give you that. Actually, If I''m not mistaken Charmed has
better ratings in the US than BtVS does (its one of the WB's top
shows...could be wrong though)
Mattia
> Well, I wouldn't call it a rip off of Buffy as such. Both shows deal

Exactly, that's basically what I was trying to say, I think. "Rip off" is
perhaps too harsh, but I just felt this show would never have been made if
it hadn't been for BtVS' succes.

A fact that has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that the three
actresses are, well, not painful on the eyes. And two of them rather big
stars (but I like the third one the most, whatshername). I've been following
this show since Angel started. It's uncomparable to BtVS, Alyson Hannigan
doesn't appear in it for starters.... well, that's most of what I'm missing.
But it's fun though. Ep's are never throat-gripping, but mostly
entertaining. Think of it as a cooling-down for Angel.

Alyssa Milano as Phoebe? Yeah, I liked her too. I guess I must have a
thing for girls whose names begin with A-L-Y-S!

Ok, going into
geeky-no-life-so-having-to-look-at-tv-stars-instead-of-real-women (tm) mode
here for a moment,
but I think the charmed sister I like best would have to be holy mary combs
(allways forget her name in the show. Also not sure if I spelled her name
right). Alyssa also isn't too bad too look at, but doesn't have anything
beyond sexy-ness. I really don't like shannen dorethy. Don't think she's that
gorgeous. Not even particularly easy on the eyes. Have to agree on that alyson
comment though *g*
Although I have to admit I was shocked upon her first apereance in "American
Pie". She's *so* much better looking as willow. She wasn't looking her best
there. She did have me ROTFLMAO (which is a weird thing to do in a packed
theatre) at her flute comment as well as her remarks in bed (what's my name
etc. not gonna spoil it for people who haven't been to see the movie yet)....
The finest girl to have graced the screen in a while would have to be Shiri
appleby from roswell though. Anyone watching that? Not as good as Buffy or
even Angel, but certainly worth a watch....
See Ya,
George - Now going out of
geeky-no-life-so-having-to-look-at-tv-stars-instead-of-real-women (tm) mode
and returning to real life ;-)
Oh, that mode? Never done it before m'self. Really!.....;-)

Holly Marie Combs. One L missing. Character's name is Piper, BTW..

Ditto about Shannon Doherty (thats how you spell it IIRC..)

This one time at band camp....;-)

The show's OK. Hearing rumors it might get cancelled, but I don't have
the energy to go find out. I would have to agree with you about Shiri
Appleby though..I guess I have a thing for petite brunettes...and
redheads, and blondes occasionally...OK, I just have a thing with hot
girls ;-) As far as being as good as Buffy, I would have to say not much
is (X Files is all I can think of right now. I'm holding off judgement
on Angel, although its got great potential...)

Good idea...go get stuck in that mode tomorrow, around 19:05, once again
though...and again on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (possibly monday,
to a lesser degree ;-)
