It was like that already in 'The Prodigal.' Dunno about the eps before
that. Did notice the smile though ;-)

Not really. Blood had that effect on him (bloodlust and all that..)
basically, brought out the Vampy feelings that we know he still has,
although he does control jimself quite well. After that, he was driving
on instinct. It WAS a big jump, though.

I still think it was a really weird choice to make, especially before he
heard the measures that W&H was going to employ to hold him to his
agreement.

Well, he's getting better where interventions are concerned, but he's
still a klutz.

Hmmm...you mean title sequence, right? I'll go do a side by side with
the Prodigal right now...no difference I can detect there, sorry. Did
they change it twice post Wesley's entrace/post Doyle? Or only once? I'm
not gonna go through all the old tapes to find out though..Vidiot have
that stuff somewhere?

Right...that bit was a little odd, considering how effective the
bracelet was in dusting other beings, demonic or not. Of course, that's
not really a big issue with fiction :-p

Well, after we see him next to his brother, no it doesn't seem like much
of a surprise. Kind of a stereotypical kind of character, one who will
do anything (quite literaly) to get what he wants (which is money and
power, basically. Mainly money, though ;-)

Right. It makes it a little odd, though. He's all for saving these
demons, although he'd probably go off and hunt a good deal of them down
on the outside. They don't all seem like nice a friendly, peacful types,
if you catch my drift. BTW, makeup work was good in this ep. Better than
usual, IMHO.

Right..how very just of him. Still weird, although it does explain it.
The way he went about it was a little less that logical though, if you
ask me. I mean, just take the freedom, tell W&H to go F*** themselves
(come on, honor among thieves? Puh-lease...) and go find his sidekicks
and work out a plan. Counting on being able to convert the demons on the
inside is a little too much, and is the hard way out. Maybe he's still
doing that self-flagellation thing....

She didn't say that. She said ignore the whole goings on in the Ring.
And as I said before, unless she has some way of binding him by some
mystical means (which is, of course, possible. Its the Big Demonic Law
Firm after all ;-) just tell her yes and do it anyway...

Whcih would have made more sense, IMHO.

No. Stupid choice, objectively speaking, and its only because of some
unexpected help from the sidekick people that it worked at all. He got
really lucky.

I think so.

No, not really, IMHO. Its Wesley's little key that really solves it.

I interpreted that differently. Val Trepkos was impressed by his actions
in the end. I think he spared Angel because Angel spared him, showed
mercy. Bit of an internal struggle there, though. Through that, he
realized what you said.

Cribb is an oppurtunist at heart. He has the key, so he's free to go.
And in a way, Angel did have some effect on him, or rather, I think,
seeing the events unfolding in the ring between Angel and Val Trepkos
had an effect. In the end though, I guess he figured they had a better
chance of getting out alive if they were all together, all free to fight
their jailors.

I don't see it like that. Val Trepkos sort of did, in the end, but I'm
interpreting Cribb's motives as purely selfish. Setting everyone free is
best for all of them, no point in killing anyone else who could help you
get out..The ending was pretty good.

Well, he's better than the old one, and a lot better than Wesley, ST:TNG
;-)

Indeed. That was a bit too much of a good thing, IMHO. Mainly the scene
with the Loan Shark. Lots of skill there, whereas he's usually a klutz
(as is witnessed from pretty much all of his other actions in this ep
and others ;-)

Yep. Great interaction between them. The whole Demon Database thing, and
the opening scenes, were pretty amusing.

Indirect sunlight is a very loose description, I guess :-))

Next week's ep looks...really weird. Not sure what to make of the
preview. Of course, they tend to be pretty misleading as to actual
quality of the ep. Take the trailer for 'I've got you under my skin'
which made the ep look, well, cheesy, but it was actually a really good
(and disturbing) episode after all. Not what was expected. We shall
see...

There, I replied. Where IS everyone else? It wasn't that bad! Really!
Its kind of ironic that the 2 eps they stopped with before were some of
the better ones, and the ones they start up with are a little less than
stellar (at best..)

I hear it didn't start 'till 20:41. What's up with that? Another
10+ minutes of my precious tape wasted. Shees. Anyway, I wasn't
in yesterday night either, nor am I tonight, nor will I likely be
tomorrow. I'm kind of busying myself with other stuff. Hanging
out on campus doing some actual studying and stuff, trying to
make a good start to the academic year (you know how it is, start
off with great intentions, in a couple of weeks I'll probably be
back to the old ways, cutting class, flunking stuff left, right
and centre, etc. BTW, congrats on your P, M, took me two years to
get mine, but I digress). Perhaps Thursday I'll get round to
watching this ep. I was planning to be late boy again, jumping in
towards the end of the week, revamping the threads with fresh
thoughts, as I used to do sometimes before the summer, but it
doesn't look like there'll be much there to revamp!

BTW, I don't suppose anyone would be willing to join me in a
say-NO-to-out-of-sync-broadcasting-campaign whereby we tape
FOX8's Angel eps and keep them on ice for about five weeks (4
weeks, 5 days, 23.5 hours to be more precise) for viewing no
sooner than after the correct BtVS ep has aired? Didn't think so.
I just wanted to say, *I'd* do that. I have the willpower.

Yeah, leader's the Dutch word for title sequence I think. Well,
it's an English word, of course, but hey...

Yep, <http://www.vidiot.com/Angel/>. He notes the two versions,
with Alexis replacing Glenn, but no further changes after that.
It's a safe bet that if there were any, he'd included them, so
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say people are imagining things
here.

Well, that's it, I kinda stopped reading there, having not seen
the ep yet.

Well, teletext had it billed for a later than usual 20:34, anyway..I
hate taping when I'm gone. Can't edit out commercials, junk, etc, and it
means one ep less per 4 hour tape :-(

Shocking...are you going to at least watch charmed though? You know, you
can always stretch out dinner for an hour and watch while you eat (which
isn't the best way to enjoy an ep, but its ok ;)

Thanks..I know what you mean about slacking off though..went to college
and to the one COO lab on Monday, one professor is great, the other a
total bore, so...I didn't go today, the COO lab is useless unless you do
some studying first, which I haven't done yet. They're starting out hard
though, with 50% of the grade for this block depending on what I get on
a deeltoets farcamologie on monday (yes, next week monday...that's about
100 pages of dense, boring graphs and the like...ugh. Means I actually
have to work more than a week before the exam...;-))

Well, depends on how you like the ep, how you interpret some of the
things, of course... We'll know soon enough, won't we? Anyway, you have
the weekend sort of semi-avliable, don't you? Then again, that's a
looong time after monday.

Erm...Not really, no. It's too much fun to just watch the damn things.
I've been thinking of actually doing it because of the fact that it
seems watching Angel will spoil us in a sort of big way for Buffy eps,
which isn't really fun (OK, so I'm spoiled already so I can't really
argue that point ;-))

> I just wanted to say, *I'd* do that. I have the willpower.

Yeah, right. Oh, you mean you're really busy so it wouldn't really
matter anyway..Anyone else have the willpower? If others say yes, I'll
bite as well (I'll try, anyway ;-)

Kind of like all those other English words (the Superior Language[tm])
that have entered the dutch language, right? Especially those 4 letter
words :-p

> Yep, <http://www.vidiot.com/Angel/>. He notes the two versions,

OK. Then its just them. Guess they were watching the old shows again
over the summer. Actually, I was paying close attention to the trailer.
Lots of those flashy thingies in there, more than you notice if you're
just sort of watching (works especially well, if you're TV is right next
to your head, distance roughly 30cm :-)

I *really* wanted to respond. Even planned on starting a thread of my own. I
*literaly* turned on the compu to write the thing, when the phone rang. Fun was
going to be had. I was not going to miss it ;-)

Anyways, seeing a bit blury now. Did all sorts of uni stuff today, did some
studying and fanclub stuff tonight. Me = tired. I'll try to find the time to reply
to this thread tomorrow or at least some time this week (getting real busy all of
a sudden). Anyways for the record: I enjoyed the ep. Liked it a lot better than
"Doomed". Angel rules and our side-kick guy (who will remain nameless for the lack
of spoiler space ;-)) all of a sudden kicks ass. Anyways more replyage later....

See Ya,

Excuse Schmexcuses....but, ok, good ones.

Work like, sucks, don't it? ;-)

Oh, and George? I'm waiting for that special big promised message (its
been a while now....) with everything I ever wanted to know about the
fanclub but was afraid to ask. You know what I mean, right? Recall that
fateful post in tOG?

Life has a way of doing that. Want the FC info though...please? I'm too
lazy to go to the website. You know, learned that from you and all, oh
Lazy one...

Good, we agree so far at least..or is that bad? That's like, boring,
right? Our Sidekick is a little inconsistent though. He's more useful at
least..;)

In this particular instance, yes. But I think she meant all other instances
where W&H are involved as well. Something like "you don't bother us, we
don't bother you". W&H is lawyerfirm enough to have that written down is
subscript.

Yeah, I see the logic in that. And I think wanting to beat the shit out of
those guards played a roll too. Because they could have taken the back door,
the one Wesley came through.

I'm starting to think that new eps coinciding with start of academic year
has something to do with it ;o) The annual "This year I will study hard. No
really, I will!" has commenced. Give it a week or three...

Well, in a way, not really, but in a way, I guess he would have minded.
I mean, he knows that people still count on him, he's not completely
asocial. Also, dying for no apparent reason, not fun. Then again, we
know Angel isn't the strongest hearted type of personality, if you know
what I mean..

Correct. But were there other guards posted elswhere? Some sort of
respect did grow between them (that, and the illogical rage, wanting to
kick some serious jailor butt..)

That's quite generous, really. 3 weeks? I'd say an average of one and a
half. I've already sort of decided I'm gonna slack. Hey, it worked last
year anyway, why not this time around? Well, except for the fact that I
have to study before next week monday, and quite a lot too...that's
gonna cut into my Angel, Buffy (twice) Dawson's Creek, Roswell(again,
twice) vieweing, to start with...Oh, and Starship Troopers, ST:TNG, DS9
and Farscape...OK, so I watch too much TV. :-p

BTW, what exactly are you up to now? Too lazy to go check your NKSF

What, no random summer rewatches? I had fun with some 'Golden Oldies'

You would be hard pressed to find my nksf page. Should send in my resume
some time, I think. How do I go about that Jonathan?

I'm writing my final paper at the mo. Should keep me busy until the end of
November I think.

Never taped the Angel eps <goes into a corner, ashamed> And when I realised
that Angel is as great as Buffy, I had missed an ep or eight. Right now I
think it's a waste of tapes to start recording them. Will buy the DVD's.

Hey, after scoring your P in one year, we expect you to score 42 points this
year! Get it?! And that will not interfere with your solemn duty on creating
and sustaining the a.b.e site and posting lots in the relevant groups. Am I

That's overwhelming, sort of. I had to cut back. For me it's Buffy, Angel

AOL: America On Line. Connecting the mentally challenged to the internet.

AOL posters are notorious for quoting 26kB or more worth of text, and then
adding a "me too", or "m2" for the linguistically challenged, preferably
answering above the quote.

Gee, and damn... looking at it more closely now, it seems I've
put too much trust in the transcript maker's spelling abilities
again (no offence to transcript makers, but I do come across
mistakes like this in their work from time to time). Obviously,
that should be "cemeteries", not "cemetary's". If anyone's
interested, I got Charmed transcripts from
<http://spellbound.cjb.net/>. Hey, and look at that, he seems to
have actually corrected one of the two mistakes in that word
since I downloaded them: it now says "cemetery's".

Ermmm ;-)

Reminded me of a movie, that. The one where prisoners have some sort of bracelet
thingy around their necks to prevent them from escaping. Cross the perimater and
the head goes "Boom". These type of things not really original, btw.
A few other examples where similar plot devices have been used (10 points to
anyone who knows both of 'em):
X-men (the comic, perhaps the cartoon as well. Never watched that, 'cause it
sucked when compared to the comics)
The Wheel of Time

Both of these were as far stretched as I could think 'em up, just to keep things
difficult ;-)

Anways, back to angel ;-)

Yeah. Thought that was weird. He has *no* idea how the bracelet works and still
tries that. Ah well, guess thats what heros are made off ;-)

Yep. Sorry to say this, but Welsey makes a way better sidekick than Doyle. He
really seems to be finding his place as a character. Me like much ;-)

Well, thats it. Still Dawson's Creek's in reruns (right???), so gonna be
watching "Judging Amy" till roswell starts (Yay!). Roswell's really pushing
itself up on my favorite shows list. Perhaps it'll get the highly deserved 3rd

1) Buffy/Angel
2) S:AAB
3)Babylon 5
4) Roswell?????

Anyways really looking forward to new Roswell eps. Also, got to buy me that

And too often in my own work from time to time when I type too fast and
don't proofread. Its something that makes me cringe from time to time.
Like the incorrect usage of they're, their or there, for example. Not
really fun (found a couple of mistakes on my own web site...) If english
isn't your native language, that's one thing, if it is (and it is mine,
totally.) it's another.

Bad grammar and spelling on the net...why doesn't that surprise me.

Yay! Actually, have any links to to other nice little transcript sites?
All I have is the Buffy and Angel transcripts and a bunch of movie
transcripts at the moment...

That was some Arnold Schwarzenneger movie, IIRC. Was it Running Man? I
think it was..not sure though. Indeed, though, originality isn't one of
this ep's defining features..

Well, you know, that island with them big robots and collars that
control mutant powers and all that..right? Extra points? So I don't know
the name of the damn Island (I could look it up, but that's cheating ;-)
Its in the cartoon as well.

> The Wheel of Time

Easy. Scheanchan chaining of Marath'damane and turning them into damane
to be controlled by means of a'dam necklace/bracelet terangreal..right?
Not sure about spelling and some words (particularly marath'damane...;-)
Next book out in novemder or something like that! Yay!

Right, very stretched actually, since both of these example involve
control over the trapped person's powers. These bracelet thingies were
basically fancy schmancy manacles and chains (without the chains,
like...)

Right..

Funny how the eye sees what the mind expects.

Hey! Doyle was cool too! Different cool and useful in different ways,
but still. Better fighter than Wes when need be, and those hand sense
:-) I agree though, Wes is developing, although a little too quickly. He
goes from terribly klutzy to immensley comptent in the blink of an
eye...

Actually, I'm growing to like it more and more. Missed too many of the

that. Well, I'm getting a second chance and time to videotape without

Nope. Don't really think so. Could have been "Escape from Absolom" or something
similar......
Its been ages since I saw it (and being "gore" intolarant like I am, I was dreading
exploding heads all the time ;-))

Yup! And mattia scores 10 points. (Sad thing is, I knew the name of the island while I
was typing this, but can't remember it now. Really weird and all....)

> Its in the cartoon as well.

Yup. Probably out of synch with the events in the comic, and probably handled in that
annoying weak catroon way as well ;-)

Yup. Completly correct. Still avidly reading in WoT, btw. Only thing is I have almost
no time whatsoever. Still in book 4, somewhere around page 300 (Egwene's leaving for
the waste, Elayne and Nyneave are heading for Tanchino, Perrin is heading back to the
two rivers using the ways. Just to give you some idea of where I am in the story now
;-)). Should've been almost finished with book 8 now, if my original planning panned
out. Ah well.......

Yup. That was exactly the thing I was thinking about when I typed 'em up. Thats why I
added that "far stretched" comment :-)

Yup. But Doyle had that "not completly fitting" feel about him. He was very cool, and
I was sorry to see him go, but he allways had this awkwardish vibe. Sure that would've
changed it Joss had let him develop more......

Yup. That was weird. But also very cool.......

Indeed. Ah well, we have (in no particular order) Roswell, Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Star
Trek etc. etc. to make up for it ;-)

> > watching "Judging Amy" till roswell starts (Yay!). Roswell's really pushing

I liked it, btw. Wasn't the type of show I'd normaly watch, and not gonna watch it any
more when Dawson's Creek starts up again, but it was very competently produced, had
some nice story lines for an opening episode. Definatly something I'd tune into when
bored......

Yup. Which is of the good :-) But you're right, Roswell is a really good show. Weird
ep tonight though......

Ermm. First there were the books, which were called Roswell High if I'm not mistaken.
So thats where that came from......

> > 1) Buffy/Angel

As far as I'm concerned it does. I mean what Buffy fan wouldn't place Angel on his or
her list or vice versa. Only discussion is which would be on top, Buffy or Angel
(ermmm......no not like that. Its the influance of that pesky roswell ep ;-))

> > 2) S:AAB

Yup. Really sucked, because it was so very incredibly *good*. Great storylines. Great
characters. Great cast. Great feel. Plus one of the onle shows (along with the rest of
the shows in this list) that really kept me on the edge of my seat. Also gave me
shivers from time to time, which is the sign of a great show. Roswell has yet to do
that, btw.....

> > 3)Babylon 5

You *so* need to do that. Only problem is, you could end up liking it more than any
other show and thus gain a new obsession. Lots of people complain its not pure sf and
that it has too much of a "fantasy" feel sometimes. Which is sorta what I liked. Apart
from the *great* arced storylines of course......

Napster. Yup. But I want this on cd, cause I'll probably like the cd enough to want to
take it with me sometimes.
Anyways, about the sexual energy: Just this ep. But sexual energy combined with shiri
appleby is *never* a bad thing. She most definatly is one of the most atracktive
actrices on tv today :-). Anyways, tonights Roswell was *really* weird. The ep before
this was weird as well (with a drunk Max). Perhaps its a new trend. Next weeks ep
looks good as well, even though it may have a bit cheapsy plot trick in the "the other
girl" scenario. Don't care though, prolly gonna enjoy it lots nonetheless.....

There's definately an Arnold Schwartzeneger movie with exploding heads.
Anyone? Come on! Can't be that hard! That, or I'm really really really
confused. Escape from absolom didn't have exploding heads.

> Its been ages since I saw it (and being "gore" intolarant like I am, I was dreading

Only saw that once, not the movie I'm talking about. Maybe it was Total
Recall...no, sticking with Running Man (makes sense plotwise..escape
prisoner and all that.) Absolom was just some Island full of crazies or
something..

Indeed. Not that weird though, its not a particularly significant
detail. Its that Roswell stuff filling your head, I teel you!

Hey! I LIKE the cartoon! And the movie isn't bad either..better than I
expected, to be honest.

The Shadow Rising? Nice book. Book 1 is one of the best, followed by
Book 6 (TeotW and LoC..I mean the Eye of the World and Lord of Chaos, of
course...) Time lack is annoying. I just turn in early, and read for an
hour before sleeping. Better than the crap on TV anyway..

Its better this way..Less waiting without anything to read. I have part
3 of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' (MUST read) waiting for me, and then I'm
all out of new material again.

I was about to say. Its not like Wesley fit in at first (by which I
really mean in Buffy. We got used to him.) Fit in badly with the Angel
gang in the beginning as well, though. Getting a lot better now...

Any new Star Trek though? All repeats, right? I know I've seen the DS9
ep before..

When bored, I'd watch paint dry. I agree with the review in the Mikro
gids (No, I'm not catholic, its just really cheap ;-) saying its kind of
bland, not very original, cardboard characters, simple, like so many
other shows. Give me Party of Five any day for drama. Heck, even
Felicity (ok, which is comic..)

Right...why does my TV guide have Roswell High in the BBC column, then?

Yeah, sure. Like you never had a dirty mind before. Pervert.

In the beginning I was like: "Whee. Lame graphics and stuff, kinda silly
lookin." I still kept watching and it definately grew on me, to say the
least. I wouldn't mind some repeats...

Different kind of show so far. Its a lot more Dawsons Creek (ever get
shivers from that? Didn't think so..Cracked up big time with some of the
'old' newer eps though..season opener and all that.)

Replace Buffy 'n Angel? You think? New obsessions don't particularly
bother me, to be honest. Fantasy, I like, doesn't bother me, and big
storyarcs are always fun. Coming to DVD anytime soonish? Jonathan?

Is there an official soundtrack out in stores here?

What he said, only more so..

I saw most of the drunk Max ep..not all of it. At least they quit
pretending they don't like each other (finally..)

Rght, that looks a little weird, actually. We shall see..Wasn't that
girl the actress who plays Nelle in Ally McBeal (Portia
somethingorother?) I wasn't really paying attention anymore.

Brand new Voyager season 6 at 17:10 on NL2 starting this Sunday.

The show seems to have been rebranded "Roswell High" for the UK.
Apparently the title sequence has even been altered to include
the word "High" (it's already been shown on Sky One). You'll find
me discussing this over in umtb last week or something.

[Babylon 5]

We've been waiting a long time for it, but it should arrive
eventually. Maybe another year or so. Apparently the success of
Fox' X-Files season box sets have finally convinced Warner that
TV shows on DVD will sell.

It's definitely Running Man, I just watched it on tape (I taped buffy after
it, so... I watched the whole tape again. TV-holism is a dangerous disease).

Don't forget 'Wedlock', with Rutger Hauer (who also played the
main villain in the buffy movie).

Which was, well, just a tad far-fetched. IMO.

Agree. And that was about the only surprise in the entire ep.

And wasn't it very strange that all those spoiled ass holes seemed to think
that *demons* and *vampires* were something completely normal in LA? I mean,
did the audience think the make-up was part of the show?

Well, yes, Angel was in-character. Hurray.

Which was completely unbelievable. We should have been given some
explanation.

Argh.

And in case I wasn't clear: I didn't particularly enjoy this ep.

If the audience thinks it's make-up anyway, why go through all the trouble
of capturing and keeping the demons? I think the spectators know what's
going on. It's indeed a bit strange that this knowledge never came out into
the open, nobody ever leaked any information. Come to think of it, that's a
very weak part in the story.

> Andrea

Sure. Next week there's the story of a group of half-demons who are
persecuted by demons that dress up like naz.... o no, we had that one
already.

I've been watching it for some time now. It's a nice show, but I wouldn't
want to call myself a fan. I doubt whether I have enough time to keep
watching it though.
