I'm new to this group. I live in the Netherlands and since a few months the
buffy series are daily broadcast. So in a few months have I seen season 1
till (I think) season 6. And I love it! The oneliners, the humour, the
exitement... terrific.
But something bothers me, and I hope you can help me. In the beginning of
season 6 (I think it's this season, they don't say on tv) we meet Buffy's
sister Dawn. But where the f*** did she came from?! In the past episodes
there was never even a hint that B had a sister! And now that she is in the
series, there is absolutely no explanation where she was or where she came
from. Did she live with her father? Or was she always there but... I don't
know, locked in her room?! It really bothers me that the viewers (it seems)
just have to except that Dawn fall from the sky or something... Will this be
explained later in the series? I just seen episode threeof season 6 today,
so I don't know. Who can help me?

That's season 5.

Wait and see. Everything is explained.

I don't think so. My guess is they will stop broadcasting after season 5
which is on now.

She's quite a little mystery, isn't she? But yes, it will be explained... I
don't think you've seen ep. 6.03 though, unless you got it off the Internet
or something. Yesterday's episode was the one with the two Xanders, 5.03
BTW Net 5 are also showing eps from further on in season 5 on Wednesday
evenings. These are followed by an episode from season 2 of Angel.
So be patient, enjoy, and all will be revealed...
Joe
Man I miss Oz. Oz would get it... He wouldn't say anything - but he would
get it.
Why do you think that?
I know about the wednesday broadcast. I don't watch them, because it's
confusing to jump through a season. I want to see them in chronological
order. BTW: what do you think of the Angel series?
It just seems too soon for them to have acquired the rights to the sixth
season already. If I'm not mistaken the Wednesday broadcasts are season 5
ones shown for the first time on Net5, whereas the BBC have already finished
this season. So it would seem logical that the Beeb will be first to show
season 6 (this fall?) as well.
I hope they prove me wrong though... :-)
> I know about the wednesday broadcast. I don't watch them, because it's

Actually I haven't seen more than about a dozen episodes yet. I'm still
waiting to take the wrapper off the two seasons worth of DVD boxes I have (I
have a large collection and something else always seems to scream "watch me
first!" ;-) ) but in response to your question, I think it's pretty good and
sometimes even great... I always loved the Angel character and in his own
series he gets to be really cool, not to mention dark and broody. Somehow in
Buffy he always seemed to suffer from his devotion to Buffy (he was a bit
Slayer-whipped you might say...) but in his own series we get a more
together and focused Angel.
Plus it's the only show that has Cordelia in it. Wow! She helps make the
show very funny as well, although for laughs I still prefer Buffy.
That's what I think about the show. What about you? Have you seen it yet?
Joe
P.S. watch tonight - you will get a big clue regarding your question
earlier!

"Man, I miss Oz. Oz would get it...

Good question. I suspect a summer break, but given the fact there's some
confusion about Net5 airing the musical cut/unut and whatnot (following
this via mailinglist, also via talks the Dutch Fanclub is having with Net5,
so....no clear answer yet), it looks like they're keeping the show, anyway.
<SNIP Dawn stuff>
Wait a few eps, all will be cleared up.

Good idea, that. As for Angel, well, Angel is just bloody great.
Mattia
Eh? Sky is almost finished airing the show, and Net5 is, like Sky, a
private broadcaster. Also, they're very close to the US with broadcasts of
stuff like Ally McBeal and Sex and the City, even Dark Angel and the like
(well, okay, V8...same company, though.)
> If I'm not mistaken the Wednesday broadcasts are

That's only because Net5 are lying SOB's, and didn't continue showing S5
after last summer. If you'll recall, they showed the first 6 episodes of
the season last May/June, and then only started up again in, what, January
or so?

It would be rather, well, illogical if the BBC got to air them first,
really. Net5 is the commercial station, has first (and only) airing rights
on NL TV, so...But if may well happen, since Net5 doesn't seem to love
Buffy that much.

I hate you, you know that? :-p
All that good stuff, all of it new, unwatched, fresh.....*sigh*

By the end of the first season, and definately by the beginning of the
second, the show and the character have truly found their 'niche', and the
result is some of the best TV ever produced.
> Plus it's the only show that has Cordelia in it. Wow! She helps make

Well, 'Buffy' is the more lighthearted one. Mostly.

Yes, and it's fab. But you'd figured that out, and weren't actually asking
me...
> Joe

You do mean the daily repeat thing...not the S5 one showing at 9 ;-)
Mattia
Same thing happened with the V8 showings of Angel season 1 (paired with
Buffy season 4). They stopped after 9 episodes, just before the brilliant
Hush... :-(

I think you're probably closest to the truth with that last remark,
unfortunately...

*grin* - Not to mention the prospect of taking the cellophane of not one,
but TWO glorious DVD box sets...
I wonder if there's a group alt.erotica.fetish.unwrapping.boxsets or
something...
I hate to admit it, but I've also got 4 X-files seasons factory-wrapped... I
buy way too much stuff...

Plus they're not afraid to take a left turn now and then, keeping the fans
on their toes... (1.09 for example).

Yep. BTW I think they're going to stop the daily S5 repeats as soon as they
catch up to the weekly broadcasts (i.e. soon) in favour of some S4 repeats,
for some reason (or possibly highlights).
Joe
I downloaded it, but I'm not sure if I want to see it already. I did
download and listen to the songs (no video) before.

I saw season 5 on BBC2. A shame it was almost over before I discovered the
late-night repeats weren't censored!
One week to go till season 4 is delivered... I hope.
:-)
There are two versions of the musical avaliable: the complete cut, which
is 8 minutes longer than a standard episode, and the trimmed down
version. Supposedly, they like the longer version, but don't think the
shorter one is any good, but they don't want to commit to airing the
long version, so their brilliant scheme was not to air it at all. Which
is insane, becuase the musical episode is pivotal to the 6th season,
plotwise.

Hmm....you've already 'seen' most of it, then, you cheeky spoiler
monkey, you.

Eek!
