According to the folks who have a copy on Home Theater Forum, it's not
anamorphic; it's letterboxed 4:3, as was the initial US broadcast.

I notice that the auction has ended. What, run afoul of eBay's
"no screeners" policy?

Says letterboxed on e-bay. Grrrr Argggg.

ROTFLMAO! Denile is not a river in Eygpt, pal. That's the very definition
of a screener. Though, personally, I don't care what you do with it. LOL!

Yeah, I know. But, I was wondering if it was anamorphically enhanced for
16:9 tvs.
Well, I'd happily take it off your hands. What do you want for it?

You'd be correct. Mine also has a reverse insert that lists which
categories the studio would like the episode to be considered for:
Outstanding Drama Series Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Outstanding Lead Actress, Drama Series Sarah Michelle Gellar
Outstanding Directing, Drama Series Joss Whedon
Outstanding Writing, Drama Series Joss Whedon
Outstanding Music and Lyrics Joss Whedon, "Under Your Spell"
Outstanding Music Direction Jesse Tobias & Christophe Beck
Outstanding Choreography Adam Shankman

It would have to be. The rules for the Emmy's are very specific. The
screeners must appear AS AIRED. No enhancements whatsoever.
Does UPN have any HD stations?
I was thinking the same thing, but UPN has not, to date, broadcast Buffy
in HD (or widescreen, for that matter, with the exception of the musical).
In the UK, on the other hand, they've had regular widescreen Buffy since
the fourth or fifth season. Barstahds! ;)

But that only applies to the nominated episodes when they're officially
submitted. This was a 'look how great this is, please nominate me'
screener and has no official standing.

Usually interupted by regular widescreen snooker ... :-)

Yes, but screeners are usually produced by the same rules, so they
only have to be made once. I have never seen a screener (and I have
about 30 of them on my shelf right now) that didn't meet that
standard.
I was very pleased to see how many screeners came out on DVD this
year, instead of tape. Bummer that Dinotopia was still VHS.
I didn't get the Buffy screener, but instead received tape after tape
of Lifetime network drivel. Bummer.
>Does UPN have any HD stations?
The Los Angeles station is digital, but not HD. And it is REALLY
screwed up. They are doing something wrong with the audio, because the
sound is all muffled. It's the only station I've seen where the
digital broadcast is worse than the analog.

Whoa. Who are you?

ilmaestro.
'Dick, you're fired.'
'Thank you.'
'I may be love's bitch, but at least I'M man enough to admit it!'
'It's OK, I can see their parachutes!'
True, but you said "It would have to be" [the same]. I was just pointing
out that it did not in fact *have* to meet the same criteria, even if
they always do.

All right. Fair point.

Well, yes, I should have clarified. What I meant is, how do you get all
this stuff?

No big deal. Anyone who is a member of the Television academy gets a
zillion tapes this time of year...all from shows trying to get
nominations for one category or another.

Ahh, right, OK.
Well, the screeners are different, though. They lack on-screen
network-ID bugs, *have* on-screen "for consideration" or "property of"
notices, come complete with end credit and music never seen or heard
on the networks, and in the case of DVDs are often progressive-scan
whereas NTSC (and some ATSC) broadcasts use pulldown (interlace).
