Swearing is a universal thing, and thus doesn't need tags.

What I don't understand is why you open the message when you are pretty
sure that it is going to be a spoiler. The header says who the big
villain is going to be, so you open the message! Anyway, going into
spoiler space now:

How do you think Dracula is going to work? How are they going to
introduce him? I've seen the promo myself and I thought it was going to
be something like an advert for a new series that they were promoting
alongside Buffy, but it's clear to me that he is the new villain.

I can't quite see how he is going to work in the Buffyverse. Perhaps
he'll have some link to the Master? The title 'Master' suggested that
the Master was the master of vampires, but Dracula is pretty high up in
that hierarchy!

Any opinions?

Yep. Ever since seeing the promo I've been more than a bit woried about
the whole Dracula thing. I mean they said the new villain would be
pretty all evil and all powerfull and that sounded really good. But I
mean *dracula*. Come on!.I'm really sort of thinking this could be a
red haring. Joss has never revealed stuff like this up front. Of
course, after word getting out about Doyle's death he sorta said he
wouldn't try keeping things secret anymore....

Yep. Agreeing there. I mean we got the Master and he was suposed to be
a pretty ancient all powerfull vamp. Of course we could have an older
vamp. Also it *could* work. I mean if they find a vampire thats so old
and and evil that the dracula myths evolved around his actions, than it
could work. But if they get the movie dracula in there, and use the
same name and all it could get extremly cheesy extremly fast......

So I'm still really sort of woried and hoping it's either a red hering
(Joss has been known to be very evil) or that they'll handle it
responsibly. *crosses fingers*

I'm kind of very sceptic as well. Several things: other word on the
street was that the big villain would be BIG, like TPTB big or
something, and somehow, Vald Dracul doesn't really fit that for me. Oh,
and they said coming in September, when the show ususally starts airing
in october (right?)

It could indeed. Or it could be really good. Joss has said (or someone)
that there will be more vampires again (not very many in S4, really.
This far, at least..) so that could be a pointer into the 'its real'
category. Anyway, I'm gonna just trust Joss with this one...I'm more
interested in what those other odd storylines will give, to be honest.

And this is the third kind of spoilerspace in this thread. This must be
a first ;-)

Well, it *could* mean our famous vampiric friend. I mean, in the
monsters guide Joss did say something along these lines (okay so I'm
quoting ;-)):

<quote from the monster book:>
Given Wehdon's history of vampires, and the manner in which the first
vampire was created, one is forced to wonder if the very first vampire
created is still alive.
"Good question," he responds, "I'm not ruling it out"

Now that *could* be a reference to our friend dracul. Not saying it is,
but Joss en co. could very well create a story in which the first
vampire ever created (who turns out to be the same vamp around whom the
dracula myth was created) plays a part. Such a vamp would be very
powerfull, if you ask me, so that *could* happen. Right?

Oh,

Yep. Those seem interesting as well. But the Dracula storyline could
ruin the rest. Or it could lift the entire season. I mean, I'm really a
sucker for the Buffy mythology as well, so more vamps would be very
very good as well.......

Actually, although the original start date was in October, they've
moved it up a week to September, um...26th, I think...to coincide with
the Olympics. Which is either really stupid or really smart, and I'm
not sure which.

I, of course, am going to be watching Buffy; partly 'cause it's Buffy,
and partly because I hate American coverage of the Olympics. (Olympic
coverage should be "[event] This is the winner, yay. [next event]
This is the winner, yay. [etc]". American Olympic coverage tends to
be "[event] An American won, yay. And now we're going to cut to a
Dramatic and Touching Story of some American athlete's life. And now
we go back to the games, and there was an incredible move there but it
wasn't by an American so we're not going to show you.")

I'm going with really stupid there. I mean the olympics are more than
bound to atrackt a lot of viewers. Noe if all the Buffy viewers didn't

Of course the fans'll tune in, but the casual viewers. Me says that is
a mistake.....

Anyways this seems again to point at the treu column. Hmm...

Ah, yes. The true nationalistic style of coverage. I guess dutch tv
would do the same sort of thing, if they could. But I'm guessing we
dont win enough events to do just that ;-) Also, americans are usually
more weird (no offense of course ;-))....

Interesting..now, If I had cash, I might be tempted to buy the book (but
its full of spoilers, so I'll wait anyway..he said whilst posting in a
S5 spoilers thread...)

Hmmm...we sort of KNOW how the first vamp was created, form way back in
S1, remember? From when the demons rules the earth...heck, I'll go get
the quote:

This world is older than any of you know. Contrary to popular
mythology, it did not begin as a paradise. For untold eons demons walked
the Earth. They made it their home, their... their Hell. But in time
they lost their purchase on this reality. The way was made for mortal
animals, for, for man. All that remains of the old ones are vestiges,
certain magicks, certain creatures...
<SNIP>
The books tell the last demon to leave this reality fed off a
human, mixed their blood. He was a human form possessed, infected by the
demon's soul. He bit another, and another, and so they walk the Earth,
feeding... Killing some, mixing their blood with others to make more of
their kind. Waiting for the animals to die out, and the old ones to
return.
--Giles, The Harvest.

Soo...if Dracula was around back then, he would be really really really
powerful. That's a theory that sounds plausible as far as powers go.
Compared to the ancient vamp, the Master was probably a
toddler..interesting. I'm kinda starting to like this...

Yup. Me too. Of course, we're probably waaaaay off. But its certainly
fun to speculate. Of course it could all be a small joke and there
could be a "dracula" fan out there immitating his style thats simply a
monster of the week that gets dealt with in the season opener....
