I was just sitting and thinking about what I would want for Buffy's Season 6
and before I finish my thoughts I thought I'd ask you guys.

Assuming you have not read any spoilers (if you have, shame on you and don't
tell that you have!), what are your expectations, hopes and fears for Buffy
Season6. Plotwise, characterwise, anything you like.

I was thinking that it could be interesting to see one of 'the gang' turn to
the evil side and become the bad guy/girl. I have heard people talking about
Willow and her magic for instance. Although that would be awesome, to see
Willow turn bad, I would miss her too much on the good side. But someone
like Tara or Dawn or even Xander, now that would be cool.

Spike has to be de-chipped, become bad, scare the hell out of everyone of us
and then die a heroic and courageous death. Not too soon tho!! Last episode
would be soon enough ;-))

Because I'm not really looking forward to a 'season baddy' coming out of the
blue like the Master or Glory and sort of doing a repeat of Seasons 1-5.
Things need to change otherwise I'm a bit worried whether they'll be able to
keep me interested for another season. They probably are, but still...

Should Buffy get a new boyfriend? I can't make up my mind about that,
because what would work? A sweet guy like Riley gets spit out by the
audience. Angel is too far, can't go back there anymore. Spike is just *not*
an option and I really mean NOT. I still think, if she really has to have a
guy, a Riley-type guy would work best.

And Amy. I want Amy back.

Cool. :)

Mwah. Um. Maybe if Giles returned and suddenly vamped, that would be quite a
surprise. :) Nice drama if they had to kill him, and looking for the Really
Bad Guy who did this to Giles coud be fun.

Mwah. Good Spike is beginning to grow on me.

I want a season baddy, but I want it to be different. Unpredictable,
original and scary. I can't really think of anything, but that's what we've
got Joss for. :)

Not? I'd say yes. But I want the both of them being hard to get. Have Buffy
become slightly attracted to Spike, while Spike becomes more and more
attracted to Dawn. Having Dawn fall in love with Spike is easy. He's cute
and strong and he's her sitter. <eg> Conflicts all over the place. Cool!!

And I thought you were my friend!! Riley-type guys are evil. Riley-type guys
make die hard fans ignore enture seasons! There's only one type of guy
that's worse than a Riley-type-o-guy, and that's a Brannon-Braga-type-o-guy.

(Yes, I'm a Voy fan. :))

But seriously, with Giles leaving and Angel long gone and without Riley
(YAY! YAY!) we need a new guy to join the Scooby gang. I vote for Tom Paris,
but then again, I'm biased. :))

Woooha!! Speculation!!

Erm...right. Andrea, you're weird. Plus, like, I doubt ASH would
consider becoming a full fledged reg again. And he's got his spinoff
'Ripper' coming up too, so....

As for the Willow turns evil angle? We've seen some interesting things
now, and there are hints going there, but a simple 'she goes evil' thing
wouldn't be that interesting, I don't think. Plus, waaah, it's Willow!
Waaaaah!!!

Ahum. Sorry. No, seriously though, perhaps a move towards grayness, now
that she's Giles-less, for one thing, and she's fiddling with big scary
powers. And doesn't seem to feel it's wrong to do so. That's dangerous.

:-o

I'm....shocked. Dechipped, become bad, and get staked, totally
anticlimactically, without much ado about it. Perhaps a party after the
fact. A "We Finally Dusted Spike" Party <eg>

But that's so not going to happen. What I'm worried about is this
rumored stuff about Buffy/Spike getting together. Of course, they've
been saying this since season 4 and earlier, so..I'm guessing (and
hoping) it doesn't happen, and that Spike keeps that edge of badness.
It's part of what makes him him.

Yep. And Marti. That's what's got me a little on edge at the moment...I
trust, say, Tim Minear quite completely with Angel, and Joss, more or
less, but Marti I'm still waiting to be convinced about. Her commentary
to WML wasn't too trust inspiring, with lapses like 'Did Kendra die at
the end of S2? Or was it in S3? No, must've been S2..' OK, granted, she
was a fresh new writer at the time, and she's been producing for a good
long while now, but still...

I'm not sure what I want. Angel's doing the whole 'no big bad' thing,
and it works. W&H are a big bad, but not the kind you can get rid of.
I'm just going to wait. Because I don't know what I want out of S6,
besides good television.

Yes. Let's emphasis the NOT!!!!

Noooooooo!!!!

Oh. Dear.

Soap Opera, anyone? That would be a little too much for me, I fear. As
things stand now, Dawn had (has? dunno) a crush on our dear little
blondie bear, but Spike? He's hung up on Buffy. Post 'Bargaining',
though, who knows? All remains to be seen.

One character I'm curious about is Dawn, though. What's she going to do?
What's she there for? Is she still a Key? Or mereley a human, now?
What's the situation there? They've gotta do something with her, I
think, because, notwithstanding acting chops, she has no role left.
Might've been more fun if she died in 'The Gift' as well...

Furthermore: Xander. Anya. Marriage. Badness. I'm *not* looking forward
to this right no. So not looking forward to that. I don't mind them
making me change my mind, but for now, no. One particular line Xander
had in 'Bargaining', "I've got to get me some more male friends" did
strike a chord with me. This is a truism, in a sense. We've got a very
male-light cast right now (not necessarily a problem.) Giles left, made
it lighter. This said, I fear the Evil of Cast Bloat. We don't need more
regs. We've got more than enough as it is..

Erm...riiiiight...

:-/

See above comments. New characters are oft hard to sell. And I'm not
sure now is a good time for Buffy to be getting into serious
relationships, to be perfectly honest..

> > And Amy. I want Amy back.

Yes! Please! Although I'm not sure how to handle this. She's gonna need
some serious help. Do we want a whole load of eps dealing with Amy? I
don't, not really...

Wow, S6 has hardly even started in the USA and I'm already spoiled. This
must be some kind of sad record.

I'm rather worried what the writers will do about Willow. She's grown
really strong in S5 and if she keeps her powers, she'll be able to use
them to vanquish every vampire in sight. That might not be a bad thing
now that Buffy is gone, but somehow I don't think they'll rename the show
to "Willow, the Demon Hunter" or something like that.
They could also take away most of her powers, but that seems like a cheap
way out. (Remember Kes in Voyager? that one ep when she got very powerful
and lost all those powers again at the end of the ep? BAD writing).

I really hope Xander and Anya are going to marry, strangely enough.

I wonder where Dawn is going to live. Maybe Giles get's to be a parent
after all.

I hope Spike will grow Bitter and Dark, rip that chip out of his head and
makes everybody's live a living hell for an ep or three.

But what about Buffy? She's rather dead and Dawn doesn't seem to have a
lot of luck resurrecting family members. And if they bring her back, why
not Joyce? Or Jenny?
On the other hand, I'm really having a hard time imagining the show
without her.

Eh? There are no S5 or S6 spoilers in my post! Well okay maybe one or two
names, that's all...

I really wanted to keep this thread spoilerfree for both seasons so that
everyone could join in... Oh well. They can still respond to my original
post.

I was almost inclined not to read any further, because you say spoilers for
S6. You could have been a bit more accurate and not make me nervous ;-) The
spoilers in your and Andrea's posts are for Episode One of Season 6.

Oh no!!! No way would I find that even remotely interesting. Not to mention
unbelievable. In fact, the thought actually disgusts me... No really, I feel
violant physical reactions. Not to VampGiles but the *idea*.

<deep breath> Ok, I'm okay now. No, don't need the oxygen.

Hey but we are talking about what *we* want or hope or fear. Not the actors,
or the networks, or other people.

Something like that. I wouldn't want to be the writer who'd have to come up
with good and convincing stories like that.

Indeed. That's Bold & The Beautiful stuff. The show has almost become too
soapy and something like this would just kill any love I have for it.

Yup. I'm so afraid she is just going to be the annoying little sister for a
whole season... and she is not real! Don't get me wrong, I don't hate her
but she's not supposed to be here so I don't want her anymore. Somebody kill
her! Spike!!! Oh yes, now *that* would be drama! Cool....

True. Except if they get rid of Dawn. But there could still be room for a
new Scooby. A tough heroic kinda guy, to make up for Spike going BAD (yes,
if I say it often enough it might happen ;-) )

No just one ep. And then she can move to Texas or something. I just want it
resolved. It bugs me.

No, mostly Andrea.

It's kinda hard to do the 'what do you expect from S6' thing without
spoiling for S5. IMO. And not safe, anyway. Hence, the space.

Yes, sorry. I don't know any spoilers for S6, rest assured..

Brrr....

Oh. Sorry to let reality intrude. In that case, Giles really assuming
his role of watcher again, properly, and us seeing some true
investigation of the themes that were hinted at in BvsD but which we
never really got.

Let's get Tim Minear over on Buffy, shall we? Just for those few eps...

Well, 'rumor'...perhaps I'm confusing 'insane shipper/Spike
Redemptionist Crazy Talk' with rumors. Heard to many off hand comments
like 'gee, I wish Spike and Buffy would really get together' at
Nocturnal....crazy people...

Riiight...Too soapy already? Well, maybe the marriage proposal thing,
but mostly? Nah. I've seen far, far, far worse on certain trek shows,
for example..

Dawn. Spike. Crush. In, IIRC, 'Crush'. Remember?

Oooh....there's a thought. Involves dechipping, though. And probably
killing Spike in the end. He ain't big bad enough to face Buffy. Maybe
he'll move off to Angel.....

As for Dawn: she's real, all right. I want to know what the hell she is,
though. Confusing and strange, this is.

Dunno. Bit too much 'stealing of thunder' involved there.

Mwah...she's got powers, but they're draining. Less effective than
kicky-punchy stuff, for now, especially since she doesn't have Slayer-y
recovery powers. Still, she could be an asset.

Yes. Lame.

Joss did say it would have a reason.

Indeed. You haven't been spoiled for the is she/isn't she coming back

Ah well, it's just for the first ep if I understand correctly (and please
don't correct me if I'm wrong!). Now I'll just have to download it from
somewhere and watch it, I guess. Or wait half a year and forget all about
it :-)

Well, she could just float five meters above ground and bathe every vamp
she comes across in daylight or something. The locals might get jumpy,
but it's possible.

I know! Usually, I'm not really in favor of marriages, but I really liked
the moment when Xander proposed to Anya and she smacked him in the face.
"Can I take that as a maybe?"

They haven't been able to reach him, as far as I know.

Probably. Or Oz could come back and eat him because he was about to drain
Willow.
Nah, probably not going to happen.

Possible spoiler for S6; has been mentioned before this thread

Yes, I have been, earlier this thread, but I'm trying to ignore that.
Besides, I'd have to put in spoiler space for S6 also if I gave hints
about that ;-)

Erm...huh? You mean with a variation on her tinkerbell spell thing,
basically? We've yet to have proof that would work, so..

Yes. That was nice, but the whole actual wedding thing? Hmmmm :-/

Yeah. Frell reality. This is our little Buffy-wish-world :-) (ahem...)

YES! Thank you Mattia. This exactly what I have been waiting for ever since
and it has not been delivered and I find that very annoying. Starting
something without finishing it.

But this is not Trek so let's not compare those shows... makes no sense. (Or
use Buffy - again - to do some more Trek bashing.) And okay, calling it 'too
soapy' was a bit exaggerated perhaps but when I compare to Buffy's Season
One, for example. And Two, for that matter. No soapiness there. Season
Three, I'd have to think about but as of S4 the accent has been moving
towards the drama more and more, I think. With the Xander/Anya and
Willow/Tara storylines and the mom dying and all the other familystuff. It
was all done good, don't get me wrong, but I feel the drama has been
becoming more and more important instead of f.i. the horror or the fantasy
stuff (or whatever you want to call it).

Spoiler Weenies Unite!

Ahum.

Hmm...Buffy Wish-verse is kinda scary. But cool...

Indeed. Bah. OK, they did some minor exposition, there were scenes in
early S5 that hinted that they might continue on the path, but then NPLH
happened, Dawn popped up, Glory showed up, and, well, nothing. Nada.
Zip. Well, one little 'Death is your Gift' dream quest thing, but that
doesn't really qualify, now does it?

If you want funny, do Jane. If you want angsty drama stuff, Marti'll
deliver; if you want a good balance of dark, broody, comic, and
dramatic, Tim or Joss can pull it off. Well, as first choices, anyway.

Hey, I'm just saying that Trek hasn't sunk this low..

S4??? Away from the 'drama', you mean. To the wonky interpersonal stuff
and sillyness for the sake of it, that sort of thing. I don't really
know what exactly went wrong in S4, but it was a number of things..

Hmmm....mwah. The MotW eps, the most 'monstery' eps in the earlier
seasons aren't something I miss over much. The story has always been
about how our characters deal with reality. However, a few more
monsterific features might be fun right about now. The S6 premiere was a
good presage in that sense.
