All new season of Angel. Some things have changed, some things stayed
the same.

Angel and his Angelettes have a new HQ. Not surprising since their last
one was blown to pieces. They now reside at Cordy's (and Phantom
Dennis'). I'm sure Wesley has an apartment of his own, but I don't know
where Angel lives.
They keep close track of their cases nowadays to find out whether they
encountered the Big Bad W&H demon yet. And Angel is already making plans
for his coming human life. Joining a gym ranks high on his 'to do' list.
The Angelettes also have fancy beepers nowadays. We saw Cordy walking
out of a rehearsal, just as she was being praised by a director. So we
know where Cordy's priorities lie: they moved from acting to battling
demons. Wesley was just making some good money throwing darts (very
unusual throw he has, but it works), and impressing (!) a nice looking
blonde woman. Is Wesley's dartplaying another source of their income? He
should make his darts into a lethal weapon, with wooden darts and the
likes.

Angel, Cordy and Wesley hurry to kill as many demons as they can find.
The morer demons Angel kills, the sooner he gets his reward. The Prio
demon however, was one he shouldn't have killed. This one had a change
of heart just like Angel, and was protecting a pregnant woman. Uh-oh.
Not that Angel could have know, since the Prio demons are known for
their maim and massacre. But it still gives Angel a big reality check.
Especially when he realises that he has to protect the pregnant woman.
Each case is personal, and shouldn't be considered as another obstacle
on the road to humanity. Angel has a very long road ahead, and he
shouldn't focus on finding out which battle is his final one. And
there's no need rushing to it. That battle will come in it's own time.

Dark games are being played. Evil powers that put a price on an unborn
baby's head (including the mother). And there are more demons than Angel
turning to fight for the good cause. A tribunal from another dimension
that judges over the faith of a mother and her child. There's a lot
going on in L.A. More than what the city is known for.

The Oracles died in last season's finale. So for information from the
spiritual world we now turn to.... a karaoke bar. Where a mindreading
demon is your connection to the spiritual world. But you have to sing
first to bare your soul. Very bizarre! And quite shocking when Angel has
no other choice than go throught the rituals. We already knew that Angel
can't dance. Now we've established that he can't sing either. Showbizz
hasn't lost a great performer in Angel. But it's a proof of Angel's
determination that he is willing to undergo the torment. I wonder what
song he'll be singing next time.

Gunn has made it to the second season as well. Not surprisingly. He's a
good character to have around. He dusted that vampire very smoothly.
Buffy could learn a thing or two from him. I'm still trying to get used
to his humor. Not my kind of humor I guess. And I'd still like to know
what his motivation is for fighting evil. Maybe that's covered in an
episode in the near future?

W&H let Darla out of her cage. She's getting used to being a living
undead again. And she can already sense Angel. She's dying to meet him.
Not sure what her plans for Angel are. W&H, notably Lindsey, want him
dead. But I wouldn't be surprised if Darla has plans for bringing the
worst out of Angel, by adding 'us' to his name.

I found this episode a bit messy and it had trouble starting up. The
best scene was at the very end. Angel visits Faith in prison. Very good
thing they haven't forgotten about her. Angel and Faith keep sharing
their experiences on their road to redemption. She seems to holding
herself well. A prison fight isn't even reason enough anymore to snap
someones neck. That must take a lot of self-control from Faith. I'd love
to see some scenes from within the prison. But at the moment, I'm
already more than happy that they haven't forgotten about her. And more
importantly, that Angel hasn't forgotten about her.
This wasn't the best season opener I've ever seen. But it already sets
the stage for some interesting developments.

He forgot Dancing...and he's dated before.

Mostly stayed the same, really.

I'm guessing the apartment sitch is only temporary. Angel sort of said
as much already. I am wondering how many of those nice books and ancient
manuscripts managed to survive the big blast (which didn't do as much
damage as I would have thought, since Wesley got out of it relatively
unharmed. OK, back to this season..)

Right. They're still confused.

Although it's discarded pretty fast..(I'll always be a loner.)

Yep. Although, ironically, her acting has gotten a lot better, despite
the shift in focus. I mean, compared to her performance in Eternal, this
was mind blowing.

Or just stick with a crossbow. Or a normal stake. I think developing a
wooden dart that can devlop enough momentup to reach a vamps heart isn't
really something easy to do. That, and I don't think they actually face
a lot of vampires alone.

Indeed. Angel all moody again. Oops.

Indeed. Vampires aren't known to ever be kind and friendly themselves.
They tend to be all fangy and killy. Mostly. Which is what Wesley slowly
realizes after an akward little speech :o)

Indeed it will. I doubt we'll even get to see it (although I wouldn't
mind, as a final finale episode..)

True. The whole issue with the baby is neatly made moot though; I doubt
we'll see any more of mother or child any more, since they are now under
the tribunal's protection until the child comes of age (what, somewhere
in his or her teens?) We still have the other kids who may yet play a
role, though..

Exactly. I can say this, though: his singing is far worse than his
dancincg. More painful to listen to, anyway. It makes for a pleasant
comedy moment though, and introduces a new character who has the
potential for popping up again in the future. But please don't make us
listen to the singing every time ;-)

> Gunn has made it to the second season as well. Not surprisingly. He's a

Indeed. Nice smooth little move, that. And he's a regular! A little
surprising for a character who's been in 3 other eps prior to this,
really. But ok, whatever.

> Buffy could learn a thing or two from him. I'm still trying to get used

Maybe. I think this vamp was more surprised than anything, easy
pickings. That, and I think Buffy, despite her denials, enjoys beating
up vamps :-)

> to his humor. Not my kind of humor I guess. And I'd still like to know

I hope it is. His humor thing is getting old fast, though. He's done a
repeat of essentially the same line every time Angel has come for help
(which has been a good deal, lately.) Always some sort of witticism,
followed by Angel confused by it, and Gunn explaining. We get it.

> W&H let Darla out of her cage. She's getting used to being a living

I'm not sure on time scale: are we supposed to beleive that this is 2
months down the road, same as 'real' time between air dates? It would
pretty much make sense, since Lindsay's healed up nicely (although I
wasn't paying good attention to his missing hand. Stupid.)

:o)

I wouldn't really mind, to be honest. Angelus is just so much fun! I'm
not sure she can pull it off though..Seeing Wesley in the credits with
what looks a little like an orb of Thesula has given me some sort of
vague idea of what might be possible, but I'm basically guessing wildly
here..

I don't really see that happening any time soon. I do really appreciate
the fact that Faith is still around, in a sense. I wonder what kind of
sentence she's serving, though, how long it'll be until she gets out
again. I'm guessing it's not gonig to happen any time soon, though. Too
bad, in a sense, but realistic. I like the new Faith, less insane.

Indeed. They're acting like good friends now, which is interesting. I'm
guessing he stood by her throughout the process that's behind her now.

Exactly. The story itself was a little silly, things seemed a little
disjointed, simplistic, but there are a lot of elements that call for
further investigation. In that way it's similar to the Buffy first ep,
but without the much smoother flow the BvsD had (IMHO.) Buffy was
better.

I don't think Angel kept *that* many books. He frequently visited the
library for research, and Wesley went to obscure bookstores. But what
was there was lost in the fire.

I didn't pay attention to it either. He was having trouble getting that
CD out of the cellophane wrapping. But I have the same problem using two
hands.
We saw the chart with all the cases Angel Investigations had handled
since the finale. I think it's safe to assume more than a month had
passed.

Didn't notice that in the credits. They use fragments from the first few
(four maybe five I think) episodes they have already shot when they make
the leader. So this scene will appear in the next few episodes. Somehow
I don't think they will bring back Angelus this early in the season.
Although they used Angelus as an attraction in Eternity, so I wouldn't
be surprised. And if they want to use it on Darla, then I wonder why
they don't just kill her. What makes her so special or dangerous that
they have to curse her with a soul? And I don't think Wesley can pull
the magic part off. Even Willow seemed to become possessed when she did
the spell.

Too

Normally, with the crimes she has committed, I'd say twenty years or
more. Maybe she can be bailed out by some secret and infuential
governement organisation who wants to use her in the battle against
evil. And it occured to me that W&H might want to pay someone inside to
kill Faith. She knows a thing or two about them that they wouldn't want
to leak out. OTOH, they don't know what Faith has already told the
police. And killing her might raise suspicion even more.

I don't think many of the Librarys carry the kinds of texts Angel needs.
My guess is that a good number of the things were actually his, since
the stuff they get at bookstores isn't generally on loan. We haven't
seen Angel at the library much, to be honest; only when he was looking
for news clippings and the like in the beginning of the season. Later on
it was mostly done by Cordy through the 'net. City Of.. has the only
library visit I can remember, actually (and the firs time I'd ever seen
Angel in front of a computer. Using several at the same time..a little
odd, that. Never heard of multitasking, I guess ;-)

It's not that hard. Usually. Well, somtimes. Ok, it is.

That's my guess as well, really. Just thought I'd bring it up.

Neither do I, but I can always hope and dream, can't I? ;-)

Angel may have some sort of bond with her, despite the fact that he
killed her back in S1E7..I don't remember S2 all too well though, so
I'll have to rewatch those eps (on DVD :-)) and pay a little more
attention to their relationship. We have the Angelus-Angel flashbacks to
go on as well; they were very close for a very long time.

> And I don't think Wesley can pull

I think that was part of the spell, doesn't work without it. If Willow
could pull it off right after waking up out of a coma, in her early
witchy days (she screwed up a lot in those days as well, if you'll
recall.) then I think Wes and Angel at full strength could probably
manage it.

Yes, that (though I hope it doesn't happen. No tI mk II please..) and
the fact she wasn't totally sane during a lot of it. You know, blame bad
parenting and all that kind of stuff...

I'm not sure they really care, to be honest. It's her word, a convicted
murderer, against theirs, and Angel certainly isn't going to testigy
that they tried to have him killed. The courts are pretty much theirs,
and Faith in prison isn't too much of a big danger for them I would
think.

I don't really want Angel to turn evil *again*. Been there, done
that. We all know he'd be changed back anyway.

Knowing Angel, he's still feeling guilty about killing her.
Wouldn't surprise me if he'd try to turn her.

I always assumed that Willow was possessed, because she couldn't
cast the spell on her own. TPTB or Jenny helped her out there, I
believe. I'd be disappointed if Wes and Angel would be able to pull
it off. What would stop them from doing that to every vamp they
encounter? Except for the fact that LA would become even more
depressing with all those moping vampires going around at night of
course :)

She might get of easy. I certainly won't mind seeing more of Eliza
this season. She really made an impression on me in The Four Parter
[tm]. I don't think the writers will let her out of the prison that
easily, however. But perhaps her Slayerpowers will be needed in LA
this season and Angel'd have to burst her out of prison. And put
her back in again afterwards, of course.
