Who would have thought I actually liked gingerbread! Never tasted the stuff,
but I like it.
This episode played games with my mind. At one point it even made me doubt
Willow. Ok, I never really doubt Willow. But still, I didn't know what was
going on exactly.
It all started with Joyce, and the horrible discovery she made. That really
shocked her, and Buffy. When Joyce told Buffy the word spread through town,
I could imagine this getting somewhat more difficult for Buffy. But I was
really stunned during Joyce's speach, when she brought up the death rate in
Sunnydale, silence being its disease, and unnatural evil taking the town
over. I went Huh??? When did she see the light??. Whatever happened to the
selective memory thing? That was kind of the basis on which the events in
Sunnydale could pass mostly unnoted. From then on, the line of action was
pretty much predictable. But it was scary to see Joyce and Sheila
sacrificing their daughters like that. When we were shown how the dead kids
were influencing Joyce & co, the escape route the writers would use was
clear: after the spell is broken, the selective memory thing kicks in again.
But before that, things looked pretty desperate.
Like I said, the writers pulled more tricks on me. The witches doing
mysterious witch things and the symbol that matched the one on the kid's
hand. The same symbol returning in Willow's notebook. It didn't make me
wonder if Willow had any part in the killing (EvilWillow returns!), but it
did make me wonder what was going on.
We got some insights in Willow's domestic situation. Seems Willow is
completely neglected by her parents ("Willow, you cut off your hair! Yeah,
it's just a sudden whim I had... in August."). That makes for some nice
psychoanalysis on Willow, which I won't go into right now.
Joyce's timing to do the mother-daughter bonding thing was excellent. Things
like "Good, honey! Kill him!" and "Oh, my God! It's Mr. Sanderson from the
bank!" are exactly the kinds of encouragement a Slayer needs. I could
imagine Joyce saying "Well that was nice Buffy. We should do that again
sometime!".
I wonder what Buffy would do if she caught the ones that killed the
children, and they turned out to be human. She seemed furious, but I think
she would have enough sense not to kill them. Beat them up heavily for sure,
but not kill.
It's late, so I stop here (soccer used up some time tonight). There's some
more on this episode, but I'll get to that later.
Bye, Patrick

Well, Joyce know about the slayer-thing, so maybe she can relate all
those mysterious deaths now.

Yeah, that was what caught me the first time I saw it. I thought: "Is
Willow behind this, that can't be." But, it came out good.

Well, no-one actually killed them. they where there to start hate among
the people, what resulted in the witchhunt and stuff. T make the people
think "there's no justice like angry mob justice."
And I never knew that Amy knew about buffy's Slayer-business. I thought
they wanted the group of people that knew about the slayer as small as
possible.

I'm sorry, but I don't think she can pull it of. She tried it I-dont-
know-howmany times, and still it isn't working!
Exactly so.

Well, Willow is learning more every day, found herself a new little
Wicca friend[1] to possibly help her out. I personally wouldn't mind
having her back, but, as George pointed out to me once, she wouldn't be
at the same point as the rest of the gang. She didn't even graduate from
High School, for example. Not gonna be going to college in any case. WHo
knows what else the rat-ment did to her ;-))

Doesn't the girl that plays amy signed a contract for s5?

[can Willow de-rat Amy?]

Amy was a bit more advanced than Willow at the time of the rat-spell. But
Willow is catching up. And with Tara's help, she should certainly pull it
off. That said, Hoss Whedon said in an interview that he and the other
writers thought it would be funny to let Amy remain a rat for some time. The
actress that plays Amy was available during the S4 shooting, so that wasn't
the problem. Maybe Amy gets a part in S5 (I hope so).

I wouldn't know. And, how should I know? Should I know?
They did bring Amy-the-rat up a few times in S4, in Something blue for
instance, where Willow wants amy to turn back, and she does, and turns
back again. so maybe she will return to human form.

I don't know, you know. But you know, I heard rumors. I don't know if
it was speculated here and that I am mixing things up.

Rumor has it (and my unnamed source says so..;-) that Amy will be back
in S5. As I (well, George, actually) mentioned
earlier though, she would probably go back to high school and not jump
straight into college, given the fact that she didn't graduate. ;-)
AFAIK, the core cast (SMG, ASH, NB, AH) as well as JM (spike), MB
(Riley), whoever plays Anya (what's her name...never mind, doesn't
matter, I'd look it up if I really cared ;-) are scheduled for S5, and
Amy, as mentioned above.

This actually shows Willow has the power to bring back Amy. She just doesn't
know how at the moment.

I would think that Net5 will continue showing Buffy after S4 (well,
maybe theyll shove it over to SBS6 but I do believe it will keep
showing..)'If this year is any indication, we'll probably get the rest
of S4, at least one repeat of the whole season in one way or another,
and then into season 5 in April or so. Bear in mind this is pure
speculation, so you can't trust any of it.

April's early, I thought we'd had to wait at least year before we could
see it here. that would be around aug/sep. but sooner is always better.

S4 started in Oct 1999 in the US, we got in on Net5 in April 2000.
S5 will start in Oct 2000 in the US, so it's not unreasonable to
assume we'd get it on Net5 around April 2001.

Well, I just assumed that there would be a huge gap between the US and
the NL, like most of the time with US shows. Altough it's not as long
as it used to be, i.e. Letterman is on in the NL like, a week later or
so (not that Letterman is good, but it's just an example)
