OOOH, let's do a whole series of apocalyptic snow-globes!
Black: all the snow disappears into a black hole
created by a vortex when you shake the glode.
Comet: instead of shaking the globe you have a comet held
to the top with a magnet and when you remove the magnet
it drops onto the earth kicking up a snowstorm.

Hmm. I thought "fire in the hole" was a miner's expression. Watch any
auto racing? Back in the 60's, cars used to come down "pit row"; now
they come down "pit road".

that the original is "pit row".
I'm certain that "fire in the hold" is the original expression. See
if they can weigh in on that as well.
