I drive past a little Church of God on my way to town, and the sign
outside this Wednesday said "Thank you Jesus for our veterans". It
seemed wrong on so many levels that I couldn't think of a good comeback.

It's just an artefact of lossy compression. Church signs
have less space than even SMS messages do so message
compression has to be very high.

In fact, the sign should have read, "Thank you Wally. You're like
Jesus for our veterans."
