I found a Regal 2 lb bread machine on a discount shelf at Sears for half
price ($48) with no manual or instructions. There is no model number on
the case (I didn't look for any serial number tag - I'll try that
tonight). It has a horizontal loaf pan, a viewing window on top, and an
LED indicator center in the front. There are LED lights for things like
Basic, Sweet, Wheat, Quick, ect and another set for Light/Med/Dark crust.
I'm not sure if $48 was a good deal or not, but I've been wanting one
for a while.

Anyone have any recommendations as to how to use this? I made a loaf
last night by pouring in ingedients for a recipe I found on line, and it
seemed to come out okay. I'm wondering if there may be a timer option,
or something. Are these things safe to use unattended? I'd hate to burn
my house down, but fresh bread after work sounds attractive.

I have a Regal breadmaker - not your model, though (the pan isn't
horizontal). For any specific questions, you could call their hotline at
1-800-998-8809. There should be a model no on the label on the back of
your machine. Perhaps they could even send you an instruction booklet.

I think these machines all require you to add liquid ingredients first,
and you should be able to use a timer option (on mine, you set the
cycle, then the time it will take is displayed, and you can increase
this number to correspond to when you want the bread to be ready. You
can't use a timer on the sweet or dough cycles)

Good luck

Thanks for the resposne Fran. I've pretty much figured out the mechanics
of the thing, I'm just wondering about spoilage issues with the timer.
Won't the yeast deplete is I set it up for a 7 hour cycle. Should I
activate the yeast first?

I have the Regal Kitchen Pro machine and you do put the liquid in
first, and the yeast goes in last! It does have a timer option too
which works well.

I do recommend if possible that you be around when the machine is
doing it's thing so as to remove the paddle when the final short punch
down is over. They are brutal to remove if they bake themselves into
the loaf. Also, I spray the inside of the paddle with Pam before
putting it in the pan, that also helps to get the paddle out after
that last knead that lasts about 10-15 seconds.

You put the dry ingredients on top of the liquids, then make a well in the
flour to put the yeast in, so it doesn't touch the liquid until the mixing
starts.

I have a regal bread machine and I do have a book but at this minute I can't
find it. However, I did find the site WWW.regalware.com in which there are
a variety of things to pick from. I imagine that it you emailed them of
your problem they would be happy to send you a book. Good Luck.
