Just bought one today and made a large loaf (2 1/2 lb). Looks fine and have
yet to taste it. Not as quick as my Zojirushi, but does have some useful
features. Has a bake only setting, so if for any reason all you want to do
is 'bake'. ie after a power cut, you can. Will also make jam. Has twin
paddles and it quite quiet. So far so good. For only £49 not at all bad.
good shape loaf too.Made by Bifinett-Kundendienst and appears to be German.
I used one of the recipes supplied, but will revert to my own recipes when I
am more familiar with it. Has all the usual, timer, crust control, quick
setting, yeast dough, pasta dough, sweet bread, french bread, wholewheatand
a buttermilk bread setting which looks like a sourdough setting.

Thanks for posting that Sandra. How long does it take to make a 2 1/2
lb loaf? Also, how long for the other loaf sizes?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,
On prog 2, it takes3 hrs 35min (french bread cycle), using rapid setting
takes an hour off that. On the prog 1 (basic) it takes 3 hrs 25 min or 2 hrs
24 on rapid. This is for the 1.2kg loaf. Depending on the programme, you can
take up to about 12 min off for the small loaf size, so not much difference
really. This morning i made my usual loaf, just water, oil, flour, salt and
yeast on the basic rapid setting and it came out just fine. The reason I
think it takes longer than on the zoj, is that only the sourdough and
wholewheat settings preheat the ingredients. Prog 5 is 1 hr 20 min for the
largest size, but I have yet to try it out. I think the jam setting is next!

I have also just bought the Biffinett from Lidl having enjoyed a few
loaves made on a Breville recently while in Australia.

Can you tell me is it important to use yeast specified for bread
making machines? Also any good tips on where to buy supplies in
London? Lidl have one strong flour and curiously, no yeast!

Hi!
You need the type of yeast that is added to the dry ingredients, not the
stuff you need to ferment first. It usually comes in sachets, Tesco,
Sainsbury, Waitrose etc all sell it. You can buy it in bulk fromClaybrooke
Mill Tel: 01455 202443. They have a mail order service and sell flours ect
too. Very Good service.

strange about the bread flour and no yeast isn't it !! I use the bread flour
all the time and it works great for me :o) Just be careful with the bags the
paper is very thin and rips SO easily

Hi Ian from down under... I was using one shot sachet yeast especially for
bread machines when I first got my machine and almost gave up on baking
bread owing to sunken loaves. I experimented with the recipe and got no
where.. Then changed brands of yeast (bottled granules) and success in a big
way. Message: don't take just any brand for granted............ Don (NZ)

Thanks to Don and Sandra for the replies. For some reason I only got
Sandra's reply in the body of Don's message!

Also I see that my E-Mail address is given as btinternet. I use this
to connect and send but not to receive.

Just bought the last one in the shop. When we got home, discovered the
instruction book was missing! Can't get another one from Lidl. Could
anybody either scan and post it or send us a photocopy - obviously we'll
pay for it. In the meantime, we'll try one of the general bread machine
recipes posted here.

You were lucky!

There was only one left when I got to my local Lidl - but it had been
dropped and was smashed.

Go back to the store where you got it and tell them. The store should be
able to get one for you. That happened with an answering machine I got
once. Instructions were in a foreign language. They called and had the
company send them the right one. Good Luck

Thanks very much for the kind offer - can you send me an email address via
email? - I don't much fancy posting my snail mail address on Usenet :-)

Thanks again
