I posted this to the baking ng. I would have preferred to post it here.
Sorry for double posting.

In "King Arthur Flour Baking Companion in the Introduction," it is signed
by P. J. Hamel and others.

In "Bread A Bakers's Book of Techniques and Recipes" it is authored by
Jeffrey Hamelman.

PJ (Peggy, I believe) Hamel works for King Arthur Flour, and is pictured
in every single issue of their catalog - front inside cover.

Well, now it all fits together.

PJ Hamel is a woman, and J Hamelman is her relative, but a man, hence the
"man" in the name.

Makes perfect sense to me. :-)
