OK! ARCANE DEMO IN MIND. MADE MANY?
Carl G.
Carl, what is happening here.. ?
Jan
That's the puzzle (figuring out what is happening). Ronald Osher's reply
indicates he figured out what was expected.

This puzzle is a lot easier if you reside in the United States. Like the
puzzles about the names of London stations, it helps if live in the right
place. The original message was both a clue and an example of what was
expected. All of the words fit a certain pattern (although the pattern
might not be easily recognized if you live in a country other than the
United States).

MANY COOKS DID I AVAIL,
ALMOND MINES DID I ACT LAME.
(This opens up a lot more possibilities.)

Don't know, the longest I have come up with is 8 letters
"MOORLAND" .
Jan
There are several eight letter words: MEMORIAL, MAINLAND, CALAMINE, MALARIAL
A ten letter word: ALKYLAMINE
A twelve letter word: CACOGALACTIA (I don't have the definition to this
word, but the root words make me believe it refers to a medical conditional
where a mother produces bad milk).
Carl G.
Good idea, it does open up more possibilities. I wasn't sure if people
would think that phrases containing words like "HIDE" or "ALMOND" should be
excluded because "MAINLAND" was mentioned in the original clue. I'll accept
both "HIDE" and "ALMOND", and your variation.

That is not a hint...it is a spoiler
