Larry, Moe and Curley checked into a hotel one night that cost them 30 dollars
total. Each one paid ten dollars and went to their room. Later that night,
the hotel manager realized that the room only cost 25 dollars, and sent the
bellboy upstairs with five singles to give to the Stooges. Since he knew that
the stooges weren't that smart, he kept two dollars and gave them each a dollar
back.... after checking out the numbers, each stooge paid 9 dollars, 9 times 3
equals 27, and the bell boy took 2 dollars...what happened to the other
dollar!!!!

There is no 'the other dollar'. The cost of the room is 25, but the since
the bellboy took 2, to the stooges the cost is now 27. which means 9x3=27
already includes the bellboy's share; so you don't add 2 more to 27. The
other 3 dollars are returned to the stooges.
