Two Boston sports talk-radio shock jocks think they know who
should replace Tom Brady.

“There is only one veteran name on there where I sorta stop and
go, ‘I wouldn’t hate the idea of it,'” Michael Felger, host of
WBZ-FM’s “Felger and Massarotti,” said Thursday. “There’s only
one veteran name on that list where I would go, ‘I bet Bill
[Belichick] could win with him’ … Eli.”

“I think Eli’s got balls,” co-host Tony Massarotti replied.

Manning, 39, has played for the Giants for 16 seasons and
defeated the Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. He started
the first two games of this season, both of which resulted in
losses, and stepped in again during Weeks 14 and 15 when Daniel
Jones was sidelined with an ankle injury. He finished the year
with a 61.9 completion percentage, six touchdowns and five
interceptions.

Manning said after the Giants season that he would not be
interested in returning to the team as Jones’ backup, but still
believes he is capable of playing. Retirement still remains an
option for Manning, though.

The topic of a Brady successor has become more and more rampant
since the Patriots season ended abruptly with a 20-13 upset loss
to the Titans in the wild-card round.

“I’ll explore those opportunities whenever they are. If it’s the
Patriots, great,” the six-time Super Bowl champion told NBC
Sports after Saturday’s loss. “If that doesn’t work, I don’t
know. I just don’t know.”

A stipulation of Brady’s most recent contract extension
prohibits the team from exercising the franchise tag on him,
meaning that after two decades with the team, the 42-year old
quarterback will be an unrestricted free agent for the first
time in his career. Brady earned $23 million last year and
finished the season with a 60.8 completion percentage and 24
touchdowns, his lowest in both categories since 2003. In spite
of his advanced age and waning stats, he stands to earn over $30
million on the free agent market.

“What if Eli cost me $5 million?” Felger said. “Like what if he
came in real cheap? What if Eli Manning came to you dirt cheap —
and $5 million for him is dirt cheap. I just pulled that number
out of my a–, I don’t know, maybe $7 million. What if Eli
Manning came to you for under $10 million?”

Rookie Jarrett Stidham, 23, served as backup quarterback this
season and is another option if Brady and the Patriots cannot
agree on a new contract by March 18. Felger argued the Patriots
could go 10-6 with Stidham at the helm. The fourth-round pick
from Auburn appeared in mop-up duty three times this season and
completed 2-of-4 passes with one pick-six against the Jets in
Week 3.

The Beantown duo “Felger and Mazz” have hosted the “Felger and
Massarotti” show since 2009. The show airs as a simulcast on NBC
Sports Boston and is known for inflammatory hot takes. In 2017,
an incensed Felger went on a 12-minute diatribe about former MLB
pitcher Roy Halladay. He referred to the two-time Cy Young Award
winner as a “jackass” and a “moron” for doing stunts in a plane
that resulted in his untimely death. Felger was suspended for
three days for his controversial comments and was forced to
apologize on-air the next day.

"Relax. They do this after every season. The suite gets power
washed to remove all the protein deposits from all of Bob and
Tom's rub-n-tug brokebackery that goes on between them up there.
Tommy's not going anywhere. He couldn't live without Bobby's
reach arounds and handies."
