I've been doing business with Edward R. Hamilton for years, but a few months ago they stopped
sending me their catalog, but I think that might have been because I was using their web site to
order. Then my last order was returned with a terse note from a "Rob Ryan" that they are unable
to fill my order. Checked their web site, and all the books I ordered are in stock. Sent them
email, but no response. So I would like to find a number to call and have a word with Mr. Ryan.

Why bother? Its not like there aren't enough other book sellers who
do business on the web. Its easier just to find your books elsewhere.

No. Hamilton has a unique service.

The phone company states Hamilton is not listed. I have ordered
well over 1,000 books from Hamilton, with over a 99% success rate.
Fast service. I would not give up on him yet.

I would just send them a letter. It's slow, but yields results. I've
had one screw-up from them (been buying from them for years) and also
searched for the phone number. No luck. So I just sent off an
old-fashioned letter via USPS. Problem was resolved in a couple weeks.

Not a phone number, but faster than snail mail.

Distribution:

When I got an order from E.R. Hamilton with an error, I wrote them. They
corrected the error, by mail, in 3 days. That might have been 1 day for
my letter to get to them, 1 day for them to process it in-house, and 1
day for their letter (refund check) to get to me. I was satisfied and
still consider their service to be good. I just checked a recent catalog
and didn't see a phone number on it.

Well the Dofus finally responded to my email. It seems they are a bit pissed that I complained
about 3 damaged books on my last order (out of an order for about 35 books), and they claim that
it is not in their or MY interest to do business (didn't know they had ESP).

So I made them a counter offer that they continue to sell me books "as-is" except that I expect
computer books advertised as having a CD or Disk to actually have one.

Isn't a roaring economy great? I kind of miss the recession, companies seemed to take more
effort to treat customer nice when the economy was in the crapper.

Maybe I'm weird, but when I've been doing busienss with a company for about 8 years, and for the
last 2 years have been ordering about $100.00 a month... I expect to be treated like a human
being. I bought over 120 copies of one book from them last year. They are about as friendly as
Citibank.

Hamitonbook is is significant need of professionals to get their website right and some people to answer phone calls. Third rate.
