Dear Wilbur Smith fans,
I need your help!!! i am a first year film
studies student and am currently undertaking a research project about
adapting the book 'River God' into a film. It is required that I
gather information from as many sources as possible, so i thought i
should start with fellow Wilbur Smith fans!

I would be so grateful to anyone who takes the time to share their
thoughts and feelings about making this wonderful book into a film.

for example, what difficulties do you forsee in adapting the story
into a film (e.g. visualising paticular scenes, historical accuracies
etc.), do you think it has the potential for huge box office success?
do you think a trilogy (with 'Seventh Scroll' & 'Warlock') to match
that of 'The Lord Of The Rings' trilogy would be a good idea?

Mainly, I want to know anything that you, as a Wilbur Smith fan have
to say!

Please, please take the time to have your say, as Wilbur Smith fans
our opinions are the most important :)

Thanking you in anticipation,
Sally Bowyer.

Dear All,

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the great man at Ottakar's bookshop
in Milton Keynes last month. He struck me as very old now and a bit frail.
However, he was quite charming and signed the inside cover of Blue Horizon
for me. I think I've read every one of his books and he remains my most
favourite author.
Cheers,

Obviously, it is going to take a monumentally great digital creations firm to faithfully fulfill the grandeur meaded out by Smith in the fantastic novel. Direction is the main trouble, I would see. The warmth of Taita and his moods are going to be hard to recapture in this epic tale. The actors are secondary to direction, but they must be up to the sense of the urgency in the book. This film would be a 2hr epic at least. If Spielberg could direct it might stand a chance. Sequels are a cinch if River God succeeds. Good luck in your study and hopefully your efforts may in some way push this cinema into production.

I read this book almost 20 years ago... Still my #1. You have to encapsulate the multi-faceted struggles of each character, this epic tale
must be told to its fullest, not rushed or any details skipped. After you dominate the film industry with this book to movie masterpiece you
can then pivot to Birds of Prey! after this you can rotate between the two with your sequels. I would recommend a ridley scott approach as well. I wish you the best my friend and if you want any feedback from a true Wilbur Smith fan please let me know. Have an awesome day!
