well it depends on what you're focusing on . . .the kid in the shining couldn't
act . .at all . . .but rebecca demornay and stephen weber(?) did pretty well .
.and they had the topiary scence . . and the part where jack is going after
wendy with the mallet was pretty cool (not in a sick i like to see people in
pain kind of way . .just an it was entertaining kind of way) . . . SOtC was
slow at moments, the accents were terrible . .but the acting wasn't half bad
and i thought the story was good . . . but overall i guess SotC was better

i disagree, i think that the shining was much better, i do agree with the fact
that the actor who played danny sucked! but i thought it had more fear to
it,and more sinister plot, and their was some great scenes that would creep you
out if you saw it in it,in sotc all their was ,was linoge baring his teeth and
hissing ,i counted how many times he hissed and sneered,he does it 12 times,11
if you dont count ralphie at the end. their was no fear in sotc, and in THE
SHINING their was no telling wether or not he would actully hit her with the
mallet,at least i didnt think we would see her get hit. in over all THE SHINING
was much much better!!

Asking which was better is like asking:

"Which is better, Liver or Spinach?"

;)

ok . . .the shining did have more scary moments . .but i don't think that SOTC
was meant to scare . . i think it mwas meant to suck you in and disturb you . .
but giving you nightmares didn't seem to be it's aim . . .

"The Shinning"????

I don't believe I've heard of that one.....

Is it about somebody being kicked below the
knees?

A fine analogy, JSM. I love spinich in many and various settings. Liver,
OTOH, is the foulest of pseudo-edible substances, and the best argument
ever put forth for becoming a vegetarian.

Now, who can guess which of the mini-series I consider spinich, and
which I would offer as analagous to the dreaded liver? <EG>

Maybe it was "The Shinnying" which one does up a tree.

Then again, I'm not too fond of either one, but given an ultimatum, I would
take the spinach (cooked with some nutmeg) over the liver - much more
palatable, IMHO.

The Stand would be steak, that started to rot before it was UNDER cooked.
The Shining...the same...
Storm of the Century would be liver, OVER cooked, without any ketchup.

Sort of like the way they cooked stuff before refrigeration... And some
people still like their steak aged to the point of rot and served rare.

Liver over or under cooked is still liver...

'The Shinning' is what Bart Simpson had, in the Simpsons' Treehouse of
Horror IV (or maybe it was V).

Willy the Groundskeeper told him so.

Well, we are talking about the miniseries...and I might add...no
marination, salt, or spices allowed.

But liver is GOOD for you! Eat up, kiddies!

Methinks you children are refering to calf's liver. Many years ago,
I was forced by loving parents to eat pig's liver. That was later a
mitigating factor in my trial for their murders and the reason I got
probation, with the admonition from the judge that I NEVER, EVER
partake of that meat again.
Seriously though, I do believe that that meat led to the Old Testament
prohibition of eating pork. Probably, back about when the Hebrews
were first forming, there was a solitary traveler who was found by the
road starving. He was taken in by a poor family, sheltered, given
water and fed their last pig's liver. Before that, he spoke a language
that had no hard sounds. Even the consonants were soft. After he
was fed the first few bites of pig's liver, he bolted straight up, and
cried something like, "Whah-chech! Fach-chooey! Kwa-a-ch!
Wha-a-ch ch-da cha-yoo thinch you'rech ch-tri-chingch tch-do-ch
ch-to me-ch? Ch-tri-chingch ch-to ch-ch-chil-ch ch-me?" He hightailed it out
of that hut and spread the word far and wide. Stay away from
pig!!! And the language spoken hence was forever rendered
gutteral.

(The ch is pronounced as a very, very hard 'K').
