Thinner, the movie (ugh)

Is there some concensus that this movie was abysmally bad? I'd like to
think that I'm not the only one who walked out of the theater wondering
if there was any way to get my money back.

I didn't think it was *that* bad. It was pretty true to the book. I
thought the acting was pretty bad though.
BTW, The gypsy said "thinner" to the lawyer (I forget his name) and he
said "lizard" to the judge. What did he say to the cop?

Does anyone know the release date of Thinner? When will it be in
theatres? Also, I saw a little preview at the theatres a couple of months
ago. I didn't get a good look at any of the actors. Does anyone know what
actors are playing who in the movie?
I look forward to seeing it. I hope it's as good as Dolores Claiborne
was!

I seem to recall that prompted rather a nice discussion quite a
while ago. I don't think we ever reached a consensus.
Where does it say that the gypsy said "lizard", by the way? I've
just had a (very quick) scan through Halleck's conversation with
Leda Rossington, and I can't find it. I'd thought it was another
comparitive, which made finding one for Hopley harder... spottier
just doesn't cut it.

Didn't like Dolores Claiborne, but LOVED (note the emphasis) Thinner.
If you've read the book, it seems (well, to myself at least) that I
had already seen it. Other than the fact that there are a few
discrepancies between the book and the movie, that's about it.
