But I guess they are priced right for those that can't spring
for 1st eds.

Hope this helps,

I know they have a site (http://www.stephenkinglibrary.com/) but when I just
tried it it didn't work (their server could just be down though)...

It's been off-line for several weeks. Don't know what's going on there.

You get a HARDCOVER Storm of the Century, and yes, these books dont have
prices posted on the cover insides and sometimes the covers lack embossing
of the lettering. But hey-- they make nice copies until you find the
editions you really want--- for 14.95 a pop-- it is worth it.

I call them up and tell them what to send...

This is something I've long wondered: Isn't $14.95 about what you spend for
a King novel at most bookstores these days? Bestsellers are often discounted
up to 40%. I don't understand why you'd want to get bookclub editions, which
I assume generally arrive after the new novel hits the bookstores.

Sorry to interject, because I didn't catch the first part of this
thread, but I joined this Club a couple of years ago. Even though
they say they will ask you before sending you any books, they kept
sending me stuff I already had. After this happened a couple of times,
and I kept sending them back, they sent me a letter basically kicking me
out of the club.

I don't recommend the club for NEW books-- I recommend it for the old
books-- Like Carrie--
you get the first edition cover and everything, not a remake in a different
style.

Technical correction (sorry but I'm picky about this stuff): you get the
cover with the artwork from the first edition hardcovers not the first
edition cover itself...

Same thing happened to me. When I called before joining they told me
I could pick-and-choose which I wanted, yet they kept sending books I
already had until I finally quit.

Very odd--
they sent me a form with the first shipment asking which books they would
send every month or two.
I never received the wrong book or a book i didn't want. Besides, I have
called their 800 number and ordered some other ones as well...

It's worth while if you need some of the older books...

I'd kick you out of the club too if you were just returning them and made no
effort to simply call and fix it---
obviously they didn't get the list form you of what you wanted.

Probably for the ones that aren't in hard copy any longer and some people just
like hardbacks :-)

Suzy, be careful^_^ and don't let yourself get too stressed out. It's been
nice having you here, and I really do hope you'll be able to get back here
after you move^_^.

Thank you but I already found a ISP for $12.95 a month unlimited access.
Unfortunatey just for the 2 phone lines it's going to cost me $60 a month
but at least that includes the internet. <G>

No I'm moving to Shawano up next to Appleton. It's about 200 miles from
where I'm at now.

Thank you. You know that no matter how stressed I try not to get it just
makes it worse. I never realized how hard it is to go from a house to a 3
bedroom apartment. All the things I have to go through. What to keep?
What to throw? <sigh> Like I said will it ever end? <G>
