Also, was the character Mike Hanlon also in the book "It"? And the
store called "Secondhand Rose, Secondhand Clothes", I thought I had
heard of that in "Needful Things". Am I correct or just pipedreaming?
I received the paperback copy of "Four Past Midnight" on Fri. of last
week as the prize to GM2 contest. I was late on the first contest and
the 3rd contest because of the screwups at greenmile.com. There was
no letter of explanation, just the book. I'd given the incorrect
answers because of the posts in this group saying that it was the way
to win. I personally thought the prize was nifty because it's been a
few years since I've read "4PM" and I borrowed the book from the library
so I didn't own a copy of it. Now I can happily reread it after
"Insomnia", GM4,5,6, "Desperation", "The Regulators", etc. etc. etc.

Wherever you go....there you are!!!
I do know that Mike Hanlon was in IT. I think Secondhand Rose
was too. Wasn't that where they found the bike? It was mentioned in
Needful things too.I can't remember the exact quote, tho'.

You're not pipedreaming, these characters/places were in IT.
Adrien was killed just as you thought. Mike was the character who stayed
in Derry and kept watch over the goings on of Pennywise. I'm pretty sure
that Bill got his bike, Silver, from "Secondhand Rose, Secondhand
Clothes." I'll check tonight, although I'm sure there will be plenty of
answers to this posted by then.

>Sorry, I can't remember Adrian Mellon. Maybe someone else does.
Yes, Adrian Mellon was the gay man who was wearing the rather
festive hat with flowers on it that was thrown over the bridge
into the river, later to be gobbled up by Pennywise.

No - I don't think we're told where Silver came from originally, but
the adult Mike saw it in Secondhand Rose and bought it on impulse
(recognising it as Bill's bike). I *think* Mike says that he bought
it way before he had any inkling that he'd be calling Bill back to
Derry (the implication being that the good force that brought them
together to fight Pennywise was working even then, as Bill needs
Silver to bring his wife out of her trauma at the end of the story).
Bestest...

Okay, the child Bill bought "silver" at a store called the "Bike and Cycle
Shoppe" (check out the section "Bill Denbrogh beats the devil"). As a
grownup Bill found "silver" again in "Secondhand Rose...". When he brought
the bike back to Mike's house, Mike gave him a bike tire patch kit and deck
of playing cards that he said he bought on impulse.
