I've just reread a real old article by King entitled "On Becoming A Brand
Name" in which he describes how his career took off and how he came to be
synonymous with horror. It's an excellent (and lengthy) article and in it he
describes his early writing career and the development of his first four
unpublished novels (at the time he wrote this article they were
unpublished). Anyway, I was wondering which of these early novels have now
been published (no particular reason for this wondering - I just was!). I
have a vague recollection that one of these novels was Getting It On
(published as Rage) and another might have been The Running Man. But there
again I may be way off the mark. One of them was entitled Sword In The
Darkness - a novel about a race riot. I know this one hasn't been published.
Anyone shed any light on the others? I think there may have been some info
on this in forward to the The Bachman Books but my copy of that remains
unaccessible to me right now.

Cheers and have a cool yule.

Rage and running man are obviously published books under R Bachman (get a
hold of the copy of Bachman books you have to see rage and running man as
well as others)
get the Bachman books soon as SK is currently under way to remove Rage from
future publications of the Bachman books, which is a superb story and well
worth having especially if SK removes it.

SK has 4 "unpublished novels" called "The Aftermath" (The novel is about a man
trying to destroy a computer that is overtaking the world after an Atomic War.
This novel was never published), "the Long Walk" (we all know what thats about,
has been published) "Sword in the Darkness" (exactly what he said, a race riot
in a city called Harding. Has never been published), and "Getting it on" (we
know what this ones about to, Published under the name "RAGE"

Those were stephen kings first novels

There is also one more unpublished novel, his 7th novel, called "Blaze" (its
about a huge retarded criminal who steals a baby and plans to ransom it to the
childs parents. But he falls in love with it instead)
there you go.

A Stephen King fan
