I've always wondered...
Does anyone know what SK means when he writes (at the dedication in "Misery"):
"This is for Stephanie and Jim Leonard, who know why. Boy, do they."

Thanks in advance.

Okay, Bev could give you the accurate answer but i can tell you that Stephanie
was SK secretary for a while and with her husband she started the CastleRock
newsletter. Also, i think they are realtives to King on his wife side.
(maiden name: Stephanie Spruce as in Tabitha Spruce...) They know why because
they were taking care of all the FANS!!!

Bev can you give more info or i'm right?

Stephanie Leonard is SK's sister-in-law and for a long time worked as his
personal assistant. It was she who started up the Castle Rock Newsletter,
an unofficial monthly to keep people up to date on things Kingly, partly
as a way to have a medium by which to address Frequently Asked Questions
in the days before there were FAQs and newsgroups and an internet, thank
you very much, Al Gore...

As his personal assistant, I expect that Ms. Leonard had first hand experience
with some pretty, umm, driven? single-minded? fans who might have been some
inspiration for Ms. Annie Wilkes.

This is because they both work for Steve and know what crazy fans are really
like.
That's what he's saying.

Well, I'm a bit far away from you - but I'd love to meet up sometime if either
of us is ever heading in the general direction of the other one! (big smile)

I've met four people from the other main ng I post to, and am currently working
on meeting a fifth, as well as making longer-term plans to get together for a
meeting with several others in America somewhere. It's great fun seeing
someone after reading their posts over a period of time and building up a
picture of them - and finally getting a face, voice, and fuller picture to add
to what you have! As I'm sure you know...

Regards,

Sarah - a woman who had better point out for the benefit of her mother (who
reads all my stuff on the ng and who's always on the lookout for a potential
bit of matchmaking for me) that Covenant _is_ a happily engaged man and this
_is_ all strictly platonic!

Here's how many people I've met off of NG's...

None.
(But might this summer...)

Cheshire. (In the interests of paranoia, I'm not going to publically pinpoint
it any closer than that. I have no worries about you, but there are some
_nasty_ people on talk.abortion, and although the prospect of any of them
actually seeking me out seems minimal in the extreme, I prefer not to start
narrowing my whereabouts down too closely. No matter - you'll get it by e-mail
when I get round to e-mailing you.)

Ah - think I must have confused you with someone else here when I was in the
getting-to-know-everyone phase. (I'm _still_ in the getting-to-know-everyone
phase, so I don't know why I put that in the past tense!)

Good luck! (a little belated since you'll have had the interview by now, but
it's the thought that counts). How did it go?
