i WAS recently rereadinf the waste lands when i found a randall flagg refernce
i dont think anyone has mentioned. Its on page 246-246 of The Waste lands in
paperback. Roland tells eddie he has forgotton the face of his father. Eddie
replies that he "does not care dick" about his father. Roland hits eddie
pretty hard. Eddie then reaches for his gun as if he ss going to shoot roland.
Now at
this time on page 247 it says "Somewhere in the distance a crow hailed its
harsh cry into the stillness." I think we all remember flagg being a crow in
the stand. What do you think about it here??

I dunno... I think this may just be a crow. (Maybe it's Eric
Draven? :)

Well, if you read the FAQ that I posted you would know that
Randall Flagg from the Stand appears in the Wastelands as Richard Fannin.
There is a scene where he helps the Tick Tock Man, but before he does
makes him say "MY LIFE FOR YOU! MY LIFE FOR YOU!"

Pete:
I'm new to this group, so forgive me if I tell you something you already
know. I think your inference was good, but I think it was either in book
two or three(I don't have them with me) that Roland met Peter and Thomas
from Eyes of the Dragon, so the Flagg reference has already been
covered. I don't see the crow reference having any particular connection
to Flagg here. It's just too sketchy for it to have much more meaning
than as a mood device, but I could be wrong. However, what do you think
of Tick-tock's new friend at the end of Waste Lands? I think it is Flagg.
What about you?

I'm almost positive it is him. He says he had a friend who betrayed him
who said "my life for you". That has to be the trashcan man from the stand

not only that.... BUT, remember tick-tock's friend, when asked his name,
said "Richard Fannin. No, thats not right. But close enough." or something
like that. R.F... now where have we seen that before? AND in the eyes of the
dragon, the evil mage(?) was named Flagg. he was described as a dark person
who had led many dark lives in the past. Many of the dark, mystrious, evil
people in S.K. books have the R.F. initials... coincidence? i think not.

With the ending to the Stand, you KNEW he was gonna be back. The point
that does come up is TIME. Do you think that Roland's world is Earth a
god awful number of years after the Plague? Those doors could have been
shifts in time rather than worlds. It would fit with the whole Good
versus Evil style of almost all of his novels and would be the tie-in of
all tie-ins if his books could be linked chronologically. Something to
think about.
