I was wondering if this character appears in the abridged version of The
Stand.

Yes. She got absorbed into the character of Nadine in the miniseries, but
she's alive and well in both versions of the book.

Good thing you added that spoiler notification as appropriate. I was sure it
spoils nothing just to ask if she's there in the abridged version. I never
read but the complete and uncut version. How does she die in the abridged
version?

I just finished reading this last night.

She died in a tent in the middle of New England of an apparant
accidental drug overdose. She choked on her own vomit trying to get out
of the sleeping bag.

After I finish the uncut Stand, I'm going to read the cut version just
so I can see what the differences are.

No, I read it about 7 or 8 years ago. I wanted to reread to determine
if my bad impression still held. Also, because there was so much
discussion about the cut/uncut versions that I wanted to see which I
prefer.

I have a strong feeling that the cut version will be better. But I'll
give my impressions when I've finished reading them.
