Some Spoilers for both stories:

Had a weird image in my head today from "The Neverending Story", that
the girl-queen in NES had the same name as the protaganist's mother,
right? This reminded me a lot of The Talisman. Though the names of
Jack's mom and the Queen of the Territories were different (I think,
it's been a while), there was a connection b/w a character's mother the
queen of some fabulous realm.

It also seemed that the protaganist of NES and the main character in the
story-within-a-story were twinners.

Anyone have any thoughts who is more familiar with these two stories?

The Child-like Empress needed a new name, given to her by a Human child.
Bastian presumably gives her his late mothers name. In the film of
Neverending Story, the name is inaudible. I can't remember if it is stated
in the book.

In The Talisman, Jack's mother is Lily Cavanaugh. Her twinner is Queen Laura
Deloessian.

I recently saw a text excerpt of an interview with the boy that played
Atreyu (also played Boxey on Battlestar Galactica). He said that the
one question he was asked most was what Bastian's mother's name had
been, and said the answer was "Moonchild". (or should that be

Even activating the captions on my DVD hadn't been able to reveal that
information.

I once had the soundtrack of NES and the music played at the scene were
Bastian cries out the name was called "Moon Child". I think in NES there was
no connection between Bastian's mother and the Empress until Bastian gives
her his mothers name, while in The Talisman the connection between Jack's
mother and the Queen was always there.
