I think the novelty has worn off more and more for me with the fact that Sims 4 has soooo many packs. Like why couldn't EA just do 2 packs like they have always done. Kits are ridiculous. (especially in a pandemic and prices are going higher and higher. Its not fair on people who have to miss out on certain packs cause there's too many of them, and it's hard for them to decide what's worth their money) And most of the packs aren't that organised or good. Like I feel like there's not enough content in build and buy mode. And the packs are all over the place. Like why couldn't they just make a supernatural pack like sims 3 and sims 2. Yet they've done it individually. (Realm of magic & Vampires) And why didn't they include werewolves, fairies and genies or even a new supernatural creature? Like come on.
Also the fact that the worlds are tiny! So so tiny. Yes I know they didn't do open world this time. But sims 2 had massive worlds and it wasnt even a open world, and u could delete lots and plan new ones.

I've actually gone back to Sims 2 and sims 3 recently. But I only play sims 4 now and again cause of a good few packs, the graphics are better, create a sim is better, and hugely because of mods. Mods make the game sooo much better.
I've been playing sims for years. Ever since I was a kid. And I've played all of them. It's created so many memories for me, and it's been so fun. But I feel like EA has lost sight in most areas of what makes a good sims game.
After one of the major updates though, my packs were not working. It says both in Origin and in Steam that I have these packs and that they're installed, but when I play my game and try to access my files it says that I'm missing 6 packs and need to install them or restart the game before trying to play. I've tried repairing the game and doing a full sign out and sign back into origin plus restarted both the game and my computer many times, but nothing has fixed it so far.
If you're given the option, try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair. Then click on the Sims 4 icon, open More > Expansion Packs, scroll down to Island Living, and see whether you have a Download button. If you do, click it, and let me know whether it downloads. Repeat for your other missing packs.
If that doesn't help, clear Origin's cache again. Next, with Steam and Origin closed, go into the game's program files and look for folders for each of your missing packs. They're labeled by type and release order: for example, Island Living was the seventh expansion released, so its folder is EP07. The default location for a Steam install is this:
For any folder you see for a missing pack, drag it to the trash. (Be sure to look just in that main Sims 4 folder, not in Delta: those folders are separate.) Once you've trashed all the folders, restart your computer, open Origin, and try again to download those packs.
rainbow_rijii Do you own these packs through Steam or through Origin, and are other packs from the same platform showing as installed? Please also load a new save and see whether any of these missing packs show up, just in case the error message isn't entirely accurate.
I just booted up my game real quick and tried to start a new game. It looks like I can play just fine, but all of the content from my Origin packs are missing. I have packs that I've purchased through both Steam and Origin and all the Steam packs are working perfectly. It seems to be the Origin packs that are the issue. So it seems that the error message is mostly accurate despite the fact that when I open Origin it says that all the missing packs are already installed and in my game.
puzzlezaddict Thanks so much for the help again! Your response was super detailed so I was able to follow it well, but I seem to be stuck on finding the individual pack files. I've cleared Origin's cache and repaired the game in Origin after restarting my computer (the repair worked better this time than the last few times I tried). When I opened my game and saw it still didn't fix the problem I cleared Origin's cache again but now I can't find the location of the game files you're talking about - "Next, with Steam and Origin closed, go into the game's program files and look for folders for each of your missing packs" and "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4". Could you possibly elaborate on that point just a bit more? I'm hoping this will be the last step I need to fix the problem.
puzzlezaddict Never mind! You're suggestion worked! My game is working perfectly now and I didn't loose a single thing or run into any issues with redownloading the packs. Thank you so much for your help! I'm so happy to be able to play again.
Hello, I seemed to have run into some trouble after reinstalling Sims4 on my laptop. I did so through the EA play app (I originally reinstalled through steam months ago and played it regularly but dropped off, and after now reopening the EA app it asked me to reinstall the game through them and refused to work with steam at all) and now my packs don't seem to work.
Previously they worked fine, and were originally installed through EA not steam- steam only had the base game and then i used that to log into my old EA acct (which had the packs saved in the EA play app) and reinstalled my packs there. To preface, I have since completely uninstalled the game from steam and do not use any CC or mods.
When I open the game the packs are greyed out, saying I have to restart to use, or restart to complete install. So, I began by restarting the app, reopening the game, and restarting my laptop several times but still it says to restart to use. Even though all my add-ons show as installed, both in the game itself and in my library.
After googling for similar issues or solutions, nothing has worked. I even tried deleting the pack files in the program to reinstall them but it still just sits locked in-game. I've repaired the game several times, reinstalled it multiple times and nothing is getting these packs to open.
I've been having this issue with my Sims 4 packs that I've uninstalled (to save space so my game runs more smoothly) reinstalling by themselves and it's impossible to play Sims 4 with these packs doing that, because I don't have a gaming computer yet, so I just don't have the space for all of them. How do I stop them from automatically reinstalling? I just want to play Sims 4 without all the lag *insert cry face* Please help.
If this doesn't help, there's a more drastic option you can try, somewhat at your own risk. (The worst thing that could happen is you'd need to reinstall Sims 4.) Inside the game's program files, where pack folders would normally be deposited, you could create an empty folder for each pack you own, named the same way the App would. This may convince the App that the packs are already installed.
If that doesn't work, create a text file, not a folder, similarly named, and when you save it, strip the .txt extension off it, so for example you'd have text files called EP01, GP05, etc. The App won't be able to create folders with these same names in this location and therefore won't be able to install your missing packs.
The Sims 4 players can download the Romantic Garden Stuff Pack for free thanks to the launch of the EA Holiday Sale - this is an opportunity fans might want to check out. Even though it had already been out for eight years at the time, The Sims 4 base game went free-to-play back in 2022, which brought in quite a few players who hadn't had the opportunity to try it out yet. Expansion packs and kits are a significant portion of The Sims 4's content, but for gamers who haven't had the chance to experience it yet, it wouldn't be difficult to sink a couple dozen hours into the base game.
Players who are looking for other additional content might want to take a look at the rest of the holiday sale, as they can purchase packs for up to 60 percent off. There is an extensive list of Sims 4 expansion packs, so gamers should consider all their possibilities before making a decision. There are packs indicated for fans who prefer to play in Live Mode, and there are packs more fitting for gamers who would rather spend their time building.
