Second case she's listed on the ships passenger list as Briana, not
Breeana which would make me assume that she's also pronouncing it as
Brian, with an a.
Anyone want to try this one? :-)

My fave line from Voyager (one of many anyway <bg>)
---- "I know why the Jews and Muslims have nine hundred names for God; one
small word is not enough for love"
Claire Beauchamp Fraser, Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
I always gathered from the book that Jamie pronounced it "BREE-ah-nah".
I doubt that she's pronouncing it as Brian with an "a", because of Claire's
nickname for her, Bree.
I guess I was sort of thinking along the lines of "Why would he tell her
she says it wrong when all he was doing was making a slight change to
the stress point. It still sounds rather the same." After all, he said
her way was awful and his way was better.

Well, I thought so too, it just gets a little confusing, especially when
you throw in the 18th century spelling "Briana". However, I never
really doubted that it should sound like Breeanna.
