There's an annual contest at the Griffith University, Australia, calling for
the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year's term was
'political correctness'. The winning student wrote:

'Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the
proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the
clean end'..

The Real Politically Incorrect WebRing says Government & Politics >
Politics
If you are tired of Political Correctness (PC) crowding out common
sense and seeing public and private institutions take ridiculous and
stupid steps to avoid offending anybody (except white Christian males)
such as changing the names of sports teams, then this ring is for
you.

Living in a state (Texas) where white Euro-descended citizens are
in
the minority, I find it hard to understand why some groups,
especially
in other countries, are so hesitant to discuss characteristics of
different cultures or ethnicities.
In an ice cream shop, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate are
in
different containers. Sometimes I want one flavor, somtimes I want
the other. Heck, sometimes I want one of each stacked up on a
cone. Just because they are kept in different containers doesn't
mean
that one has a "superior" taste.......
I have never tried mixing all three together to get something
mahogany, but as I think of it, it might be pretty good.....That's
probably how a shop ends up with 50 different flavors.......

Different cultures often like to preserve those traditional
characteristics
they value, and sometimes place little value on contrasting
characteristics.
I like to celebrate July 4th, but have no interest in Guy Fawke's
Day,
Towel Day, Ramadan or Kwanza.....More power to the aficionados.
Yet, when one quotes government websites noting statistics on things
like unwed marriage, obesity, school dropout rates, educations
achievement
rates, or athletic achievement, as broken out into ethnic ,
cultural,
or nationalistics segments, some people come out of the woodwork
yelling "racist" or "nazi" at the earliest opportunity, and a
rational
discussion can't continue.
If we do have misconceptions about these differences, a
discussion
from reasonable, educated people, often wipes out or diminishes some
of the
prejudices...

Oh hell...... end of rant ......
