It's by Heinlein but is found in Asimov's anthology _Where Do We Go From
Here?_

Its not an asimov story, it was written by Robert Heinlein. A very funny story IMHO :-)

Heinlein; try his story collection _The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag_.
The story title is "And He Built a Crooked House"

I think the story was by Larry Niven and is in either _Hole in Space_ or
_Convergent Series_. I could be wrong (and since I'm not at home I can't
check 8) ) but it sounds right to me.

It's a Heinlein story, and I _think_ it's in "The Unpleasant Profession of
Johnathon Hoag", along with another classic, "All You Zombies".

For those who don't know the tale, it's about an architect who cons a friend
into letting him build a house in the shape of an exploded tesseract. One day

jumped out of the wrong window? ;-)

Asimov also wrote a story about a 4th dimensional house. The name mentioned
before is familiar, but I read the story 8 years ago, and the memory isn't
that good!

I think you are referring to the story by Robert Heinlein called
"...and he built a crooked House". It's about a guy who hires his architect friend to design a new house in the form of a three-dimensional projection of a four-dimensional "tersseract".
The projection collapses and the house becomes four-dimensional. Some interesting things happen. A classic SF story.

Ah yes, I read this back in elementary school. Highly recommended.
I wonder if it is still in print? A perfect companion for _The Complete Robot_.
