I read it soon after. I was eleven at the time.

It was the first book I read in which anyone got laid.

I remember when I first read it at the age of 11. The title seemed
futuristic to me (considering it was 1964 at the time) and I thought
it was science fiction at first. For me also it was the first book I
read where someone got laid...

I think I was nine. The whole concept of getting laid went clean over my
head. Innocence is a powerful protection.

I did understand that here was a grownup who had gotten into print
although he was willing to complain about bad cafeteria food and about
authorities who stifle you and lie to you for your supposed own good.
Those parts I was old enough to understand.
