Hi There Lisa,
You're right this is a very friendly group, I've only been around for a
short time myself. Everyone will be along with a welcome :)
I'd say read any Dean Koontz; maybe leave Demon Seed and Tick Tock till
later, they are the ones people differ on.
Watchers is high on most peoples list though,
Dark Rivers of the Heart, Strangers, Lightening ...

There's a FAQ with a complete list, you can find that in Luke's signature if
you check out a mess. from him.
(Sorry to steal your thunder Luke, I couldn't resist.)

Be sure to let us know what you think :)

Watchers
Strangers
Dragon Tears
Lightning
Tick Tock
Dark Rivers of the Heart
Intensity
From the Corner of His Eye
Cold Fire
Midnight
Sole Survivor
Phantoms
Face of Fear
Darkfall

Well, that should last about two weeks worth...

Everything Koontz has written is pretty good, my own personal faves
would be Strangers, Dragon Tears, House of Thunder & Intensity. You
may also want to try a few other writers such as Richard Laymon, Ed
Gorman and Jack Ketchum. Laymon has such a fantastic writing style,
even though his material has a more 'to the bone'. His passing was a
tragedy, and he will always be missed by his adoring fans (me included
!)

I'm re-reading Lightning. Long time since I read it. At page 30 and
already I'm excited. Other good ones: Watchers, Strangers, Intensity, Dark
Rivers, Sole Survivor (... and also the movie). Haven't decided on
Nightchills yet - the jury is still out considering such things as: this is
an early work, and if he hadn't written it, would he still be the great
writer he is. Of course!

Now when I come to welcome her to the group, what am I going to say?
You've said everything that I always say.

Welcome Lisa, If you hav n't already read any DK books you are in for a
treat.
Just choose one, any, (except, imho Tick Tock) and I am sure you will be
totally captivated.

I hav n't heard of the two writers/ Ed Gorman and Jack Ketchum, do they
write
in the same way as DK and RL? Any recommendations by a DK reader are
always welcome.

Hi Lisa and welcome. Just pick a book, any book and you'll be pretty much
hooked. If you want to become a fan for life after reading just
one...Watchers.

Ed Gorman is a thriller writer, but he's got harder and harder to find
over the years in the UK. I read one of his, 'The Silver Scream' and
very much enjoyed it, but since he went to one of the smaller
publishing houses, he's nowhere near as well known.

Indeed she did. It was a deliberate attempt at usurping.

Off with her hea.....no, let's not be hasty. She's already banished herself
to the dungeon, which I find extreme.

Hard life, isn't it?

Still, I'll be here for a bit longer yet.

Thanks for the info. Luke. My local library will try to find one of his for
me I am sure , they are so helpful,if the book that you want is not there,
they try other libraries around the area, then they just keep increasing the
area to find it. They even bought
two new cookery books at my request.

I'll go and see one of the nice people there tomorrow.

Well, I considered the release of the Castle Dragons, as it's about
time that they got a workout, but I've decided to be merciful. Aren't
I kind?
