Nightmare Island: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

In this story, Narnian King Caspian the 10th is sailing to the Eastern
end of the world on the Dawn Treader. Along with him are King Edmund,
Queen Lucy, their cousin Eustace, and a large, very brave Talking Mouse
named Reepicheep. At one point, they spot a region of darkness and sail
into it at the insistence of Reepicheep, who argues that to refrain
would tarnish their honor. They rescue one Lord Rhoop (formerly of
Narnia), who yells at them to leave the dark area at once, since in the
darkness is an island where nightmares come true! The crew, realizing
the dangers of nightmares come true, scramble to row out.
What nightmares have you had that would come to life on that island?
What nightmares would have come to life for the Dawn Treader crew and
passengers if they hadn't gotten out? I bet that for Edmund, the White
Witch would have appeared and chased him with Turkish Delight.
Reepicheep's nightmare would be running from danger.

"Nightmares That Come To Life" is a fairly common fantasy trope, but
it always seems to involve some creature/object appearing in otherwise
unchanged environment. My nightmares would require rearranging the
entire island -- like nightmare of driving a bus on nearly vertical
slopes, or of being back in military boot camp. Scary things in my
nightmares are not, well, "things".
Unless you count my nightmare few days ago which involved a white
dress shirt and a ferret with diarrhea...

I think Aslan would say that was part of someone else's story.

He was a lot bigger than a normal non-talking mouse, so I assert my
right to call him "very large".

It was not where nightmares come true, but dreams. The crew think
this is a great thing until Rhoop gets the point across that it's
"dreams", not "daydreams". While this includes nightmares, I think
most of my non-nightmare dreams have been weird enough that I'd hate
for them to come true.
It wasn't specific nightmares that scared the crew away, but the
general formless insanity of the average dream.
