I don't buy gas from them (exxon/mobil) anyhow...
but, speaking of Meet the Press, a couple of weeks
ago, Russert interviewed the Saudi UN ambassador
one thing Russert asked was if it was true that
the Saudi's agreed to jack up the price of gas
until just before the election, then drop it
drastically to help Bush get reelected. In return
Bush agreed to keep the Saudi's out of the 9/11
scandals. Of course the Prince side stepped this
issue as best he could. but to me, it looked as
if it were true. he side stepped it as quickly
as he did the fact that, while all planes in the
US were grounded, they went to Bush to ask special
permission to let their plane leave with bin Laden's
family aboard, and received it.
No, the only thing that will reduce the price of gasoline
is to *need* less of it. That means, driving more fuel
efficient vehicles. that's how Japanese cars were able to
get a foothold in the American markets - it wasn't because
they were better vehicles, it was that they were cheap and
got better gas mileage than American cars.
And up the gas guzzler tax drastically
Is that even still around? or did Bush get rid of it?
Also, stop speeding - which I'm very very guilty of myself.
plan your routes to avoid unnecessary trips
all of this we learned back in the 70's when gas jumped up
to 50 cents a gallon. it's called conservation.
