I was thinking of paying to join them, but before I shell out 12
dollars can anyone tell me if they are any good?
Thanks.

They can't spell the word "receive" correctly and don't bother to correct
their obvious typos. That indicates either that they're uneducated and
ignorant, or they take no pride in their work. I wouldn't throw my money
away on such...

With so many good FREE torrent sites out there, why bother.

Any website that claims they can, for a fee, get you torrents not available
elsewhere is conning you. You'd likely end up hooked to a porn site.

Spelt wrong twice differently, almost if done so deliberately.

Opinions is what I asked for, so thanks. However, their spelling
ability is not my main concern.

Such as? I used demonoid until it got zapped, I can't find
anything to match its content.

They aren't the only ones charging for new membership, some of the
new nzb sites that have sprung up from the ashes of newzbin and
nzbmatrix are doing the same. Apparently there are costs in
running these sites.

Go ahead, then, and spend your twelve bucks.
You asked for opinions - I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole.
Not from direct experience, but from experience with similar pay sites.

I certainly did and all opinions are gratefully received.

The only site I've ever paid for was newzbin and they never tried
to flog me porn. From what I can gather torrentday wasn't always
closed to sign ups and it still isn't if you can get an invite. So
my only option is to pay if I want to get in, which is why I was
looking for opinions as to how good or bad this particular site is.
Thanks, anyway.

I've been using it for quite a while - never had any problems. They use
rar files extensively which some may find annoying, although I find an
autounpacker program works for me. Any more specific questions, ask
away.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. I've taken the plunge and "donated"
and so far I'm happy with it.

I'm happy for you. I might have to join up sometime if the free torrent
sites keep going under. I still use The Pirate Bay occasionally, though
I understand it's blocked by UK IPs.

Free sites do accept donations, but it's optional after sign-up.

Just ask yourself,.....
If you were an RIAA goon, with all the sites out there you have to choose to
fight to close down, and take to court to sue.
Would you your first choice be to go after a site that earns nothing (free
registartion) And have any judge just give them a slap on the wrists when
the owner can plead poverty, and users vanish after hooking up, so can't be
traced without a great deal of difficulty.

Or a site you KNOW has a bankroll, and a list of "serious" torrent users
with up to date contact/transaction information, so that a judge will award
monetary damages, and turnover of records ?

Paid sites make users a prime target.

Torrentday are good for TV and DVDs, I didn't have to pay to join, but it
seems cheap to keep up with CSI, Bones, and Dexter etc. all available in a
variety of formats. Good porn section as well as flac music.

A good all round site, with sensible moderators and seeding augmented by a
points system.

Go for it.

I have one invite and I've seen you around a few froups over the
years to know you aren't a complete arsehole, so if you would like
an invite from me, let me know.

It's not a paid site if you have an invite and as Martin has
already said, even open torrent sites happily accept donations.

I've done it!

Well, thanks for the compliment. It's nice to know I'm only a partial
arsehole. If you're offering, I might as well try it out; it might come
in useful. You can reach me at martnctv(at)yahoo.com.

BTW another free site I sometimes use is SceneTime - www.scenetime.com
It says sign-ups will be open 24 December till New Year.

Thanks for the invite. I've signed up.

I DL a lot of British stuff from thebox.bz - I hope it doesn't go under.

YW.

Yeah, I use it for when I miss stuff. It's a good site.

Thanks for that buddy. I'm not sure if I'll use them much but it's good to
have the option. Topping up my ratio now.

Man, I'm really missing Demonoid! I was in the process of downloading a lot
of my old vinyl records in lossless format as well as uploading whatever of
my eclectic 450+ CD collection wasn't already there. :-/

Happy new year matey,
