Good advice. It's been going on for about a year or so now, someone else
claiming to be aXXo (as he's one of the top five searches in most torrent
sites) and releasing either crap coded movies or malware.
At one stage he announced that he wasn't going to cap and code any more
(He's a friend-of-a-friend). :-( Luckilly he changed his mind, his ups are
always faultless quality.

I did download an AXXO torrent recently. When opened it told me to go to a
particular site to get the player.
It may, or may not, have been legit but I didn't like that concept and I
deleted the whole thing.

No, you didn't download an aXXo torrent, you downloaded a _fake_ aXXo
torrent. aXXo torrents just have three files, a .txt file, a .nfo file and
the .avi file. The .avi file is always an XviD file and doesn't need any
proprietry players.
If you want an aXXo release, only go to the above-linked site. Simple as
that. They have *all* of the aXXo releases and you can be sure that they're
100% genuine.
Here's what aXXo has to say in the Read.Carefully.txt file that's always
included in his torrents since last year:

file in their psuedo-aXXo releases so the presence of such a file is no
guarantee. Here is a copy of the 'nfo file that he also includes (open with
notepad. It's always titled "movie.name-aXXo.nfo" where "movie.name" is the
name of the movie, in lower-case, seperated by periods) You may have to set
your newsreader to "plain text" to see it properly:

However, there again, there's nothing stopping a counterfeiter (probably
backed by the RIAA) from including this file also. The only real way of
being sure that the file you're downloading is actually by aXXo is to go to
the URL I quoted earlier.
