Is there any TBP proxy that is not continually interrupted by the
f****** Ad.Fly ads?

Thanks. I do use Firefox. Didn't know about that add-on. I'll try it.

The built-in Firefox pop-up window blocker seems to do OK for me (FF 18.0.1)

yes I've got that too, but every proxy I try first gives me th stupid
ADF.LY ad page.

Try any proxy at random and the same thing happens. Try this one and see
if it happens to you.

Yes it did (happen to me). I thought I'd reactivate my KillJasmin add-on
- which you can target to specific pop-ups - but unfortunately the
adf.ly page only seems to happen on the first access (for me) so I can't
test it. Presumably the adf.ly page will reappear some time (next day?
after a reboot?)

It seems that the only proxy I've found which is not affected is:

Use Admuncher, no ads anywhere, you have to pay for it but it's brilliant.

You can use one of these two:

http://piratebayproxy.se/
http://pirateproxy.net/

If you create an account on tpb (free registration), once you are logged in, there are no ads whatsoever.

A little quirk with the search engine from that URL though.
It keeps defaulting to only searches for videos and apps.

But I guess for those only looking for those two categories,...it does the
job.

Still doesn't work for me with Firefox. :-(

I run Adblock Plus, but it doesn't get rid of those writhing almost-naked
women, which is a feature rather than a bug for some. ;-)

I'm using Firefox without those annoyances. However it does seem to
default as stated above.

Recently I've been using:

http://www.proxybay.eu/

which so far is relatively fast and trouble free.

That proxybay.eu link, still gives the pop-ups

Somehow it doesn't seem as bad as some other proxys.
