I take it that Judaism and Christianity both share the same God Who is
working out His promises to Abraham (Gen 12:1-3).
It is a right and proper thing to pray for those who are afflicted.
James teaches "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of
the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick ... that
ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
availeth much. " Jas 5:14-16.
It is therefore beholden by those who are righteous to intercede for
those in need.
In my Bible study group we are fortunate, and encouraged, to have a
hospital chaplain in out midst. His prayer life is such that puts us
to shame, since he is often called to the bedside. When he shares
some info on some of his charge, we can sense that heaviness of heart
and walk he has with the Lord. Means much to those he is counseling
or terminally ill patients.
The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

I ahve heard testimony of how God has healed people of the flu, headaches
and psycho-somatic diseases but never a single instance of an amputee having

The standard cliches given by chaplains is starting to sound very shallow.
I note that clergy taking funeral services have had to modify what they say
because many of the attendees are not Christians but non-Christian friends
of the deceased person. The standard Christian cliches don't work for them.
It is not "Good News" that your friend is supposedly burning in Hell as we
speak because he wasn't a "true Christian" who believed the dogma of the
clergy person's denomination. Likewise it may be wishful thinking to say
that the deceased is in the care of "the Lord' when you know the deceased
was an evil person.
HOW does a chaplain console an atheist? Or do atheists not matter and God
wants to punish them with grief and sorrow?
I recommend John Shelby Spong "Eternal Life: A New Vision - Beyond
religion, beyond theism, beyond heaven and hell" (HarperCollins:2009)
This book is refreshingly honest and one of the best books I have read on
death and eternal life.

After Jesus had died, risen and ascended to Heaven, the Disciples had to
think about what to do now. Our good God left them and us someone in His
place, the Holy Spirit, who was poured upon them on Pentecost. The same
converted Saul on his way to Damascus, and Saul became Paul. The Holy
Spirit led all those people who belonged to Jesus Christ then,
harmonising them in one Spirit, in one accord, and He is doing so now,
too. That is why Christians recognise each other soon.
But it did not take long after Pentecost and the Christians split up.
Paul's letters speak of that, and he warns the Christians of it, because
we all have just ONE LORD..
"God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son
Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be
no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the
same mind and in the same judgment." (1 Corinthians 1:9-10 KJV)
Now what many do not get is this:
"Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God,
and Sosthenes our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth,
to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with
all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
both theirs and ours: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father,
and from the Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 1:1-3 KJV)
It says that Paul wrote this letter to the CHURCH at Corinth, not in an
open and public newsgroup or forum. It is clearly defined who belongs to
the Church of Christ - or the Christians - by the God they worship, not
by the different denominations as long as they worship the same Jesus
Christ. This is granted in churches that are led by people who are led
by the Holy Spirit, and they will have pastors who seek the truth in
God's Word rather than make up their own god.
Paul's job - as much as Peter's and others' job - was to find the right
way how to re-organize the services they knew from the Jewish tradition
according to the new Christian standards and teaching, to interpret the
Commandments Jesus had given and transfer them into this new world order
that started when Jesus Christ was born. (Our calendar still starts
counting the years from this point zero). Apart from the Gospels and the
Book of Revelation, the New Testament mainly deals with that, and it is
great to have this for the churches.
The question that comes up is the following, however:
_In how far can this all be applied in a public newsgroup or forum?_
What is easily confused is the idea that all the group members are in
such a group for the reason of fellowshipping, and that they all serve
the same God or seek doing so. This is not the case, and many here are
doing the same like in Jesus' times, namely using the public forums and
groups for taking a political influence in public, and even anonymously.
A newsgroup is no Christian cyber space per se, and the space can be -
and mainly is - hostile. Christians should be very careful not to fall
into the devil's traps in usenet and elsewhere. They soon start to be
nice to devil's spawns as if they were some brothers or sisters at their
church. They publicly and fellowship with false teachers, blasphemers
who call the Christian faith a lie from satan, unrepentant sinners who
fight for their so-called rights to keep on sinning, the gay lobby that
tries to have the Bible burnt as hate literature, cherry pickers who
ignore parts or even whole books of the Bible, attackers of the Body of
Christ, Wiccans, trolls etc... They think they have to hold peace above
truth in an open and free forum for opinions.
We are not at a church, but we are still: CHRISTIANS by the ONE GOD whom
we share - and that is our OWN legitimating. Born again in His Spirit we
stand together in ONE ACCORD, also in a free and unmoderated newsgroup.
Those who oppose the Christian basics can be two different kinds of
people: those really interested in the Christian faith looking for
information, or those who want to torpedo our faith. And that is where
we have to draw the line! We Christians should really stand in one line
against those of the latter mentioned, and they would not be able to get
a hold of the Christian cyber space.
If people do not bring the teaching of the faith in that same God Jesus
Christ, we are to reject them, if they like it or not. Most posters here
try to teach their own gospels, things that Jesus; Holy Church has never
taught over the years. Believe it, God is able to see to it that His
Word and His Church is still standing. Churches are like humans - they
are not perfect. But Jesus Church will be blameless one day in the
future, and He will have perfected His Church Himself then.
I would like to appeal to those Christians who should be in one line
against the forces of darkness. It would be good if they rejected those
who are just here to torpedo our faith, thus be able to teach what the
Bible says. Otherwise posting to usenet would be in vain. Why not just
proclaim God's Word instead of petting all the trolls? It has gone too
far downhill with most of you here. meanwhile you are standing in one
line with enemies of the cross against those who still hold the truth up
(not mine - GOD'S!).
I will pray for you and anyone of the Christians to turn to the truth
again. This truth -to remind you - is Jesus Christ and the Bible are
holding up. This truth is not made up by some libellers who torpedo
God's Word.
Get up, think about it, pray about it - find out who you are, who God
is, what your job is and start again in one line with your fellow
believers who should be dealt with according to Christian standards in
Christian cyber space, but do not include those who bring strife between
the Body of Christ. Kick those out of your rows who still want to stand
in one row with false teachers, blasphemers who call the Christian faith
a lie from satan, unrepentant sinners who fight for their so-called
rights to keep on sinning, the gay lobby that tries to have the Bible
burnt as hate literature, cherry pickers who ignore parts or even whole
books of the Bible, attackers of the Body of Christ, Wiccans, trolls

Cheap Grace
God knows the truth, that is what I know.
People have no problem to hurt others on a regular basis, and then come
out and claim forgiveness, but forget to repent. Have you ever heard of
cheap grace? That is exactly what some are teaching - and it is FALSE.
God's Word:
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke
him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee
seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee,
saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. (Luke 17:3-4 KJV)
"And what has become of forgiveness"? People often still forget the
repentance part of it... Cheap grace will not take anyone to Heaven,
however.
Cheap grace is what I have seen in so many places... it is where the
murderer has more rights than the victim, and where good and evil are
turned upside down.
They claim cheap grace for themselves all the time, while they deny
forgiveness for others. They have invented a well-feel gospel that has
nothing to do with God's will. And they have started to call good evil
and evil good.
Of course Christians are to forgive - but there is also the part of
repentance - and that is what so many love to forget. The result is a
funny fake gospel that is turned upside down, where blasphemers are
praised like heroes. No, thank you!
It is the same how they deal with God. They make Him look like an old
grand-pa with a long beard looking like Santa Claus in the commercials,
someone too senile to discern good and evil, and loving the most evil
bastard. No, that is NOT who God is.
He is a Living God, acting here and everywhere, being just and faithful,
true, merciful and caring.

As COMPLETELY undeserving as I am, God has answered many of my prayers and
some in outstanding ways, completely by astronomical odds against
happenstance. Sorry to inform you (actually not - it's just a saying) that
you don't get to tell God who He accepts or why or when or how.
You just believe in stone aged men's perception of God and how God interacts
with the world. Does "salvation" come from believing that the God is the
