Sir Isaac Newton (1642 - 1777), English mathematician and scientist who
invented differential calculus and formulated the theories of universal
gravitation, terrestrial mechanics, and color is less known for his keen
interest in the Bible. "Newton's Prophesies of Daniel," by Sir Isaac Newton,
put light on the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 applying it specifically to the
autonomy of Jerusalem and the 2300 days of Antiochus (Epiphanes)
Taking Sir Newton's premise further, I calculated that birthdate of Christ
Jesus as September 11, 3 BC, in the evening hours.
Ernest L. Martin, PhD., noted archaeologist and historian, in his "The Star
that Astonished the World" has independently arrived at a September 11, 3 BC
(evening hours) birthdate for Christ Jesus based on astronomical AND
historical evidence supporting Revelation 12:1. (A proper review of Dr.
Martin's book should be undertaken before posting replies as it takes into
consideration such matters as the correct date for the death of Herod, the
War of Varus, the two governorships of Quintilius Varus, the census of
Quirinius and the Empire-wide Registration vs. the twenty year census period,
the chronology of Josephus, Herod's murder of his sons, the two-year joint
rule of Antipater, the evidence of coins, Matthew's and Luke's accounts,
etc.)
Carrying the math further, if Christ Jesus began his ministry at 30 ("about
30" per Luke 3:23), 30 would be a priestly age to start with, and carried on
his ministry for 3.5 years, the chronology of Christ Jesus would look
something like this:
6-7 AM, 11 Sep 3 BC: Christ Jesus born (Feast of Trumpets)
18 Sep 3 BC: Circumcised
10/21 Oct 3 BC: Dedicated in Temple
25 Dec 2 BC: Bethlehem star (Jupiter) becomes stationary directly over
Bethlehem and Magi adulate child (Hanukkah)
11 Sep 27 AD: Christ Jesus' ministry begins. Baptism by John. Goes into
wilderness for 40 days.
11 Mar 31 AD: Exactly 3 1/2 years later (or 12 Mar 31 AD)
12 Mar 31 AD 2:27 AM: 1st Day of Addar (Nissan) - Jewish New Year begins (new
moon)
26 Mar 31 AD: Passover meal, Jesus and disciples retire to Mount of Olives,
Jesus arrested
27 Mar 31 AD: Peter hears cock crow thrice, Jesus brought before Pilate (and
Herod)
9 AM: Jesus crucified
12 PM: Darkness descends upon land
3 PM: Jesus dies
Fri, 30 Mar 31 AD: Joseph of Arimathea seeks and receives Jesus' body, Jesus
laid in tomb, Tomb sealed and Roman guard placed at tomb
Sun, 1 Apr 31 AD: Angel rolls back stone at tomb
NOTE: This undoubtedly will step on some infallible toes as it reveals Christ
Jesus and the malfactors hung on the crosses for three days. On the other
hand, it gives better credence to the fact that Jesus was dead for three days
prior to resurrection. Further note, as Christ Jesus would have been born in
a leap year, it might be supposed that the 33 1/2 years fell exactly on the
first day of Addar (31 AD not being a leap year) rather than the preceding
day.
The intereseting point is that the September 11, 3 BC date is independently
arrived at by two Bible sources and calculates forward perfectly to Addar, the
Passover and the crucifixion.
