King James
Matthew Chapter 1

"1": The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the
son
of Abraham.

"2": (1)Abraham begat (2)Isaac; and Isaac begat (3)Jacob; and Jacob
begat
(4)Judas and his brethren;

"3": And Judas begat (5)Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat
(6)Esrom; and Esrom begat (7)Aram;

"4": And Aram begat (8)Aminadab; and Aminadab begat (9)Naasson; and
Naasson
begat (10)Salmon;

"5": And Salmon begat (11)Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat (12)Obed of
Ruth;
and Obed begat (13)Jesse;

"6": And Jesse begat (14---David)David the king; and David the king
begat
(1-15)Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

"7": And Solomon begat (2-16)Roboam; and Roboam begat (3-17)Abia; and
Abia
begat (4-18)Asa;

"8": And Asa begat (5-19)Josaphat; and Josaphat begat (6-20)Joram; and
Joram
begat (7-21)Ozias;

"9": And Ozias begat (8-22)Joatham; and Joatham begat (9-23)Achaz; and
Achaz
begat (10-24)Ezekias;

"10": And Ezekias begat (11-25)Manasses; and Manasses begat
(12-26)Amon; and
Amon begat (13-27)Josias;

"11": And Josias begat (14-28---Babylon)Jechonias and his brethren,
about
the time they were carried away to Babylon:

"12": And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat
(1-29)Salathiel; and Salathiel begat (2-30)Zorobabel;

"13": And Zorobabel begat (3-31)Abiud; and Abiud begat (4-32)Eliakim;
and
Eliakim begat (5-33)Azor;

"14": And Azor begat (6-34)Sadoc; and Sadoc begat (7-35)Achim; and
Achim
begat (8-36)Eliud;

"15": And Eliud begat (9-37)Eleazar; and Eleazar begat (10-38)Matthan;
and
Matthan begat (11-39)Jacob;

"16": And Jacob begat (11-40)Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was
born
(12-41)Jesus, who is called Christ.

"17": So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen
generations;
and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen
generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are
fourteen generations.

The numbers in the parenthesis are mine. I listed the 1-14 first next
to
each name or event and then after the first 14 had been counted I
started
over with 1, etc. but also added 15 etc. right next to it to keep the
total
count.

I tried to overlap the generations to see if that would work. The
numbers
come out even worst and then they don't line up with the generation of
David, Babylon and Christ.

Just a honest mistake by the writer...
