Description: SHIFT:

Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm and On-Call

BASIC PURPOSE:

The Security Engineer will provide tier 3 day-to-day firewall management oversight and escalation for SunGard and its customers.

This position is responsible for providing technical expertise in network security, managed firewall services and Virtual Private Network services for Customers worldwide. The position reports directly to the Director of Security Engineering. The level of this position may vary with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Network Security Architecture and Implementation. Implement new products that will provide general security, intrusion detection, tracking, forensics, and possible security testing.

• Documentation Responsibilities. Document all operations procedures and conduct formal training associated with security procedures and services.

• Troubleshooting. Responsible for third tier support of security products in the field.

• Lab Design & Upkeep. Responsible for creating and maintaining a lab environment for all products currently deployed in the field in a working mock up of a Maintenance Operations Center.

• Continual Learning & Monitoring. Continually monitor for the latest exploits and hacks for all products currently deployed. Responsible for continuing education and certification in relation to security products offered.

• Provide World-Class Support to Customers: Maintain a high-level support relationship with customers, focusing on installation consultation, solution design and Tier 3 support for a Checkpoint, Cisco, and Juniper/Netscreen based security solution. Work directly with Customers, internal engineers and operations technicians to define customer firewall policies that are effective and efficient.

• Provide World-Class Support to Operations Team: Assist operations team with day-to-day workflow when necessary. Remain accessible to team for technical support and guidance concerning all aspects of a managed firewall solution. Provide the highest levels of customer service to Internet Data Center locations throughout the US.

• Participate in the Product Development Process: Participate on new product development with engineering team members concerning Virtual Private Network, intrusion detection and other security-based solutions. Review designs and provide constructive feedback to ensure these designs will be easy to support in the field. Review operations procedures to ensure they are accurate and provide excellent customer service to data centers and our Customers.

• Recruiting: Continually seek and refer potential employees to the Human Resources Department and the management team.

• Industry Awareness: Seek industry and market information to provide the information necessary for successful business development.

• Able to be on call for incidents and problems.

• Able to travel as needed.

• College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.

• CISSP preferred

• User Level Unix, Linux, Solaris experience.

• Expertise with at least one of the following firewalls: Cisco PIX, Checkpoint, or Netscreen.

• Expertise with at least one of the following management tools: Provider-1, CSM, or NSM.

• Sound understanding of VPN technologies and implementations.

• Unix scripting, and programming in Perl or C++ preferred.

• IDS/IDP experience preferred.

• SIEM or other Event Correlation experience preferred.

• Vulnerability Assessment experience preferred.

• Network experience with Routing and Switching highly desirable.

• Must understand TCP/IP and sub-netting of WAN/LAN networks.

• Ability to teach and communicate to others.

• Ability to manage projects.

• Security Engineers are expected to have a majority of these skills and are expected to have managed firewalls in some capacity for a minimum of 2 years with a preference for security operations.

• College degree or equivalent work related experience with a minimum of H.S Diploma or GED required.

• Preferred BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience, minimum of 4 years in a security role.
• CISSP or completion within 90 days required. 
• Minimum of 6 years of Security and/or Network experience required.
• Vendor specific certification in OS or Security Products preferred.
• Managed Security Service experience preferred.
• Project Management experience preferred.
• Experience in one or more of the following: RSA SecurID, RSA KEON, RSA Federation.
• Experience in one or more of the following: Digital Certificates, SSL VPN’s, Content management & filtering products.
• 4-5 years of experience directly supporting a Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory domain.
• Efficiency in Windows & Unix (Solaris, Linux, AIX) operating systems in an administration role
• Knowledge of network security systems and protocols including firewalls, Radius and TACACS+, IPSEC and IKE, SSH, etc.
• Conduct vulnerability testing and penetration analyses of computer and networks.
• Knowledge in Identity & Access Management products.
• Familiarization or membership in security organizations. Strong customer service, communication, and teaming skills.
