The Oracle Database Administrator will be part of a team responsible for all functions associated with the implementation, operation, and maintenance of development, user acceptance testing and production environments using multiple Oracle products. The candidate will actively participate in the day to day administration of all environments, monitoring, problem resolution, on-call support, and hands on involvement in supporting multiple Oracle products
The candidate is also responsible for ownership and/or participation in various projects as assigned, as well as participation in cross-functional and interdepartmental teams.
Candidates must be technically proficient and possess good interpersonal, troubleshooting, and documentation skills, with a willingness to share information with fellow members of the DBA and Development Teams.
• Perform database administration and maintenance functions in support of production, UAT and development environments
• Perform preventive database management, maintenance, and performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization
• Automation of routine database administration tasks
• Providing assistance to application development staff
• Data modeling – Develop physical data models as needed
• Develop environment specifications, benchmarking performance scenarios, and monitoring environments
• Conduct regularly scheduled environmental assessments and developing recommendations and corrective action plans based on the findings
• Participate in disaster recovery plans / scenarios, and generating required documentation to execute the recovery plan
• Administer database security components – work with the SOX Administrator and Product Managers to develop and execute relevant security policies
• Participate in the research of new products, tools, methodologies, and standards related to all aspects of the database environment and its security, and make recommendations
• Oracle Applications Cloning, RMAN database duplications
• Execution of Release Migrations
• 24x7 OnCall support on a rotational basis
• Other duties as assigned
• College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5+ years continuous experience as a DBA in an Oracle / UNIX environment with installations / upgrades of Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g
• 4+ years continuous experience as an Oracle Applications DBA in a lead role performing installation, upgrades, patching of the Oracle e-Business Suite, supporting Financials and CRM modules
• 3+ years continuous experience supporting 9i / 10g Oracle Application Servers, including JSERV / JVM support
• Working knowledge of database backup/restore methodologies including: RMAN, hot and cold backups, export, import, standby, etc.
• 2+ years continuous experience with Workflow, Discoverer, Portal, and Oracle Data Warehouse products
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work well both individually and within a team environment, and interacting with both technical and non-technical individuals
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL capabilities, including performance tuning experience
• Experience with installing, configuring, maintaining Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control supporting complex environments
• Experience with application code repository tools, such as StarTeam, PVCS
• Experience with HP Deployment Manager (PPM, Kintana)
• Knowledge of different storage platforms such as NAS / SAN, raid levels
• Experience with EMC technologies such as Replication Manager, SanCopy, Snapview
• Knowledge of logical and physical database design
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding and fast-paced environment
• Solid Unix shell scripting experience
