LOCATION:
Oneonta, NY
DESCRIPTION:
Plant engineering position responsible for:
Providing day to day technical support for production operations including troubleshooting equipment and process problems.
Lead plant cost reduction, continuous improvement, and automation projects in support of overall plant objectives and priorities.
Provide technical expertise in machine / motion control systems, system integration, sensors, electro-mechanical devices, and
robotics.
Direct and work with plant maintenance and external trades organizations as part of completing assigned responsibilities.
Interface with and manage external system integrators and machine builders to successfully deliver fully integrated process
equipment systems to Oneonta plants on-time, on-budget, and that satisfy performance measures.
Actively participate / direct all phases of assigned projects including design, fabrication, off-line integration and testing,
installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel, and transfer to operations.
Projects involved with:
Technical support of production operations
Manufacturing process improvement
Process Equipment and Automation Systems implementation
Role within group:
Member of plant engineering department responsible to provide expertise in machine controls, day to day production support, and
lead / participate on project teams responsible to deliver process improvement, cost reduction, and new capability to the Oneonta
plant in support of overall plant and business objectives.
Travel Requirements:
5% depending upon specific project assignment (travel to suppliers for meetings, check-out, etc.).
EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years of engineering experience with demonstrated success developing robust control solutions using machine / motion control
systems, flexible automation, robotics, and electro-mechanical systems for implementation in high volume manufacturing processes
High level of technical curiosity that will enable unique solutions to the technical challenges incumbent in the position.
Ability
and interest to learn, and apply, new technologies in support of overall technical objectives as well as train others.
Familiar with state of the art technologies in the following areas:
electrical design, control systems integration and
architectures, PLCs, motion control systems, electro-mechanical drive systems, robotics, programming risk assessment, and safety
systems.
Demonstrated skills in control systems design, programming, and systems integration with a strong understanding of open loop and
closed loop control systems.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult equipment and process problems through process experimentation and data analysis.
Able to effectively leverage external machine builders and system integrators for detail design, build,
and integration of later
stages of system implementation
Demonstrated project leadership skills including the development and management of design specifications, project scopes, budgets,
and schedules.
Possesses the ability to plan, communicate issues, and execute solutions quickly and efficiently.
Strong written and verbal skills
Desired Skills:
Fully capable in Allen Bradley PLC platforms (PLC5, SLC500, & LOGIXS500), FANUC Robotics platforms, and knowledge of servos,
steppers, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Fully capable in OSHA Machine Guarding, ANSI RIA R15.06 robot safety design standards, and ANSI TR.16 Risk Assessment standard.
Working knowledge of 480V and below 3 phase power systems including applicable National Codes (NEC, NFPA 79, OSHA, etc)
Fully capable in Autocad 2-D for design of electrical cabinets and control systems.
Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of mechanical systems and hardware.
Knowledge of injection molding processes and equipment.
Manufacturing plant experience
EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
