Description: Financial client (located in Midtown) is looking for an IT business/application analyst position who would report to the Director of IT Equities Front Office, supporting Buy-side, Equity Investments Portfolio Management, Research and Trading. The candidate for this position will be a seasoned business/application analyst with strong buy-side Equities Investments financial experience; an excellent communicator, comfortable with process, flexible and eager to address all problems and challenges; a well-rounded, hands-on analyst, with a wide range of application development experience and exposure to many solutions. The candidate will have a background of delivering a mix of small to medium custom applications, and integrating with vendor products. The technology stack for Equities Front Office is: - UNIX servers - Java - Windows XP desktops - Oracle databases - BEA Weblogic Portal - IBM MQ messaging - Actuate reports - Informatica for ETL - Autosys for scheduling - GENTRAN for File Transfer services - SOA, ESB and WEB Services are in initial adoption
Tasks and Responsibilities: The candidate will be participating in two large projects: 1) Migration of Equity Front Office functionality from an older Oracle/Weblogic platform to a new Oracle/Weblogic Portal/Actuate/Informatica platform 2) New business project implementing new funds supporting alpha generation products The analyst will also participate in some production support. Required education/experience: Undergraduate degree Finance or Information Technology discipline 8 - 12 years experience for a Wall Street based institutional brokerage, bank, or asset management firm supporting front office (vendor and in-house) applications with hands-on experience working with the technology Experience in leading initiatives and organizing work effort Ability to estimate analysis and development time Solid knowledge and experience of Portfolio Management and Research and Trading and approaches and techniques - CFA designation preferred Solid analytical and problem solving skills Adherence to a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology Strong people skills and customer service mindset. Personal qualities: Possess a strong work ethic, self-starter, creative, a focus on customer service, possess a high level of energy, enthusiasm, have good communication and people skills, team player, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, commitment and appreciation of the application of technology in support of their business.
