Business Intelligence Platform Manager
If you are a Business Intelligence (BI) Platform Manager with 5+ years of Architecture related experience - Read on!
National company, with offices in Rochester, is seeking a BI Platform Manager to be responsible for overseeing the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence platform.
What you will be doing:
* Evaluating, developing, packaging and delivering new service offerings related to business intelligence that encompass clearly defined value propositions
* Leading, mentoring and development of team supporting business intelligence solutions
* Collaborating with Enterprise Applications team of subject matter experts
* Engage in planning and design review meetings with technical leads and project managers to determine schedules, review technical problems and assign tasks and resources.
* Manage, develop, and motivate a technical team operating at a high performance level.
* Collaborate with IS management and business key stakeholders as needed to ensure timely delivery of new BI solutions and ensure operational excellence of existing platforms.
* Research industry best practices and emerging technologies for possible incorporation into our business intelligence systems portfolio.
* Establish development standards & best practices, architecture patterns and governance structure to ensure they are followed.
* Evaluate system and business program proposals from an architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality, technical viability, as well as ensuring adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
* Attend industry conferences and monitor industry publications to ensure our Business Intelligence architecture is current with industry standards and emerging trends.
* Develop communications for senior management that interpret the impact of events to technology direction.
* Act as a subject-matter expert and evangelist for business intelligence platform.
* Must be able to clearly provide direction and set objectives for direct reports and easily interact with peers, IS management and key business stakeholders alike.
What skills are needed to apply:
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent degree.
* 10+ years of Business Intelligence experience with at least five years of Architecture-related experience and exposure to best practices.
* Experience with the following tools and technologies; Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and associated SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS technologies, Microsoft BIDS (Business Intelligence Development Studio), Microsoft Report Manager and associated design toolset, Microsoft Office 2007.
* Possess the ability to instill and reinforce a strong customer service and business-oriented ethic in the entire team.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the organization
* Excellent analytical skills and creative problem solving abilities
* Well established verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advocate for solutions, receive feedback and collaborate with business owners and peers.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* An understanding and the ability to apply Ralph Kimballs data warehouse architecture/ETL techniques
* Strong understanding of system implementation methodologies and the software development lifecycle
* A firm understanding of data warehouse, data modeling, data mapping and reporting design is essential.
* Should possess an overall understanding of ITIL (or similar) service management framework and related principles as well as the fundamentals of project management.
