We are currently seeking a Senior Database Architect/Designer and Developer who will support a project to design, develop, and integrate a multi-tiered Microsoft .NET based web application and Oracle 11g database, which will replace a legacy information system. Manages the development of database projects. Plans and budgets staff and database resources. When necessary, reallocates resources to maximize benefits. Prepares and delivers presentations on database management system (DBMS) concepts. Provides daily supervision and direction to support staff.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing and architecting new data structures.
- Generating all supporting documentation such as entity relationship diagrams, data models, data flow diagrams, and other metadata definitions.
- All data architecture related topics.
- Stored procedure development.
- Assisting with system testing.
- System deployment.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and 7 years of relevant experience; the degree requirement may be substituted with an additional 4 years of experience.
- Strong understanding of Oracle architecture including but limited to memory structures, background processes, logical/physical data structures, redo/rollback, and the query optimizer.
- Experience creating and administering Oracle 11g databases running on the Sun Solaris operating system.
- Experience developing data models from functional and system requirements as well as existing data structures.
- Experience creating entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, and related documents.
- Experience using Oracle PL/SQL to develop procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
- Experience with techniques to use to tune data structures, SQL statements, and PL/SQL code for optimal performance on Oracle 11g.
- Experience developing and executing shell scripts, Perl scripts, and Java programs that interact with an Oracle database.
- Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and methods, and software version control.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a team player (team oriented) and willing to follow directions, as well as take initiative.
- The candidate must be able successfully obtain a Security Clearance. Thus, U.S. citizenship required.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Quest Software products including Toad and Spotlight.
- Experience with CA ERwin Data Modeler.
- Experience with high-availability systems.
