The Database Marketing Analyst will support executive & corporate management, Publishers, Marketing Directors and Inside Sales Directors within each of the company’s publishing groups to analyze data from the CRM database. The analyst will take on a consultative role, collaborating with publishing management to identify and evaluate opportunities to utilize analytics to maximize marketing success. The analyst will design and execute marketing-oriented reports supported by customer segmentation and modeling activities. In addition, the analyst will be expected to present findings and recommendations (both formally and informally), assist other VNU Business Publication employees in conducting data analysis and document work. Provide guidelines, process and support for market segmentation and campaign profiling—direct ongoing interface with marketing managers. Provide support for reviewing results of segmentation process and identifying top growth campaign categories for direct marketing efforts that will expand upon and compliment the current efforts already being executed by the brand. Provide assistance for marketing management to track campaign execution, results analysis, refinement of future efforts. Present publishing management with a comprehensive metric driven overview of opportunities related to matrix analysis for print, web and events based on trends and emergence of hot categories. Support the creation and execution of a comprehensive campaign program for each brand tied to the opportunities identified and documented resulting from strategic opportunity development meetings with each Publisher. Responsibilities: Acquire understanding of VNU Business Publications business model, company structure, database systems and publishing markets Perform data compilation for the completion of weekly management reports Assist in the design/creation of comprehensive suite of customized reports as requested by individual brands Perform marketing analyses, examples including: Customer segmentation/targeting Marketing/campaign effectiveness/response rates Customer acquisition and retention costs/Marketing ROI Perform statistical modeling analyses to: profile customers develop predictive metrics identify and develop key performance indicators and trends Development and documentation of best practices and standards with respect to data analysis/reporting Assemble findings in appropriate presentation format (tabular, graphic and/or written). Tailor and deliver presentations to varying levels of management Assist in setting project deadlines. Must meet established deadlines. Qualifications 3-5+ years experience in database marketing or data management BS/BA degree with statistics/computer science/marketing coursework preferred. Graduate business/statistics degree a plus.
