Hi ya'll,
A friend of mine will be in Denver for the next couple of weeks and is
willing to bring some beer back with her. Can someone suggest some brews
that wouldn't be available in central Illinois? I tend to like IPA's,
stouts, and barleywines, but am open to any suggestion. Also, can anyone
tell me where she can find a good beer store out there?
Thanks,
Nick

Argonaut in Denver is good. Liquor Mart in Boulder is better. Breckenridge
Oatmeal Stout is good. So is Oasis IPA. Also Oskar Blues Sinful Stout and their
IPA, in bombers only. Also Left Hand brews are great.

ANd while you're there, I would DEFINITELY suggest that they check out
The Great American Beer Festival next weekend, then over to the Falling
Rock for many local brews, or a fine Cantillon Gueuze!!

Both great recommendations!!

For the acquisition of beers in the metro area, Applejack's is OK, but
no where near what it used to be and no where near the best place in
the area to pick up local gems. Probably the best are Total Beverage
(North side, 104th and Washington, www.totalbeverage.net), Liquor Mart
in Boulder (15th and Canyon), and the Wine Company (University and
Orchard, I believe). There are others that have decent selections,
but these are usually the most complete. The Wine Company is a small
place, but don't be fooled, they just stock the good stuff. FWIW,
Total Bev claims that if it can be had in the state and the
distributor is in stock they have it. Personally if I could only stop
one place, that would be it.
