I've got a friend who has a book by Cecil Adams called "The Straight Dope".
In it he covers the topic of the famous "33". M. Adams concurrs the "word
count" theory, as well as the one that says that company execs say:

'Who cares what it stands for as long as people keep drinking while they
are pondering!"

I agree. It's a good brew to enjoy when there's not a homebrew withing
easy reach.

1933 is the year prohibition ended. That's my theory for why the '33
is on the bottle.
